That box of Moser Roth Winter Desserts chocolates looks divine - looks very similar to the Hotel Chocolat dessert chocolates that they have for Christmas - reckon they are modelled on those.

I have... I love heading in with my bestie soaking up the atmosphere in town last minute gift shopping then heading for a lovely afternoon tea, last year we went the Westin it was decorated beautifully and a choir appeared later in the day for Carols

I am just wondering what we can expect this year hard to know

Just back from the weekly grocery shop in dunnes, surprised that there's a lot less Christmas stock on display compared to last week. Very little Halloween stuff either.

I have never gone for Afternoon tea.
Nandos is as exciting as it gets for me.
Depending on what restrictions will be in place you may still be able to go for it this year.
However I do question will people be meeting up for these casual browsing shopping trips.
I think they’ll get what they need and head home.

The season does be so busy for everyone

We started doing this about 3 years as we both have birthdays close to the 25th.

Started with the Shelbourne which was nice, missed booking the following year so had lunch at the Cliff Town House. That was nice but nothing festive really and went to the Westbury last year.

Loved the Westbury, sure it is pricey (€75pp) but we've booked again - bookings opened on 1 September.

Was a mix of people last year...couples, mothers and daughters (some even with a buggy), groups of friends- that may not hapoen this year, anyway there's no way the kids are joining us!

Edit: missed the bit where you went to the Westbury last year. I'd book again....

I'm lucky that the places I usually shop in are all online so I'll be able to get the rest of the Christmas gifts sorted without leaving the house. Just need to wait for their Christmas stock to go live! Myself and himself would normally head into the Galway Christmas market during December for a walk through and maybe get lunch somewhere, but I don't think we'll be doing that this year though. We did do afternoon tea one year, my OH organised it as a surprise in a fancy resort, it was so lovely and Christmassy

We have an big wooden advent calendar, last year we put a christmas film in each door, as select few saved for Christmas week and the rest rando, with great intentions as we watched about 4 of them. Looking forward to breaking it out this year.

Liverpool fan myself. So not much better Sunday.

Level 5 lockdown will be a disaster but with the number of cases and lack of hospital beds and flu season coming who can blame them.

Went for a 5am walk with the madra and it was very Christmasy, dark, so quiet, and some back gardens with twinkly lights which I am taking as a sign.

We had over 1,200 cases in one day here (Population approx 9m), lockdown is imminent.

My chritsmas sweets order is staring down on me from the top of the open shelving unit in the kitchen. I must put it under the stairs.

Think its a jump too far too soon myself & will bode poorly for NPHET, there's absolutely no justification for a full country wide lock down as the hospital figures just aren't there to support it. I have a feeling until now government were afraid to go against NPHET's recommendations but with this will push back as socially & economically its a bullet to the head, the thing is I suspect such a dramatic suggestion will make it easier now for the government to say 'no' to them in the future too.
Anyway, lockdowns don't work, as soon as they're lifted the cases increase and we cant stay in one forever. The real mistake here was not using the lull in June/July to reinforce the hospital capacity, that is an inaction that will come back to bite us all I suspect.

Anyway, enough covid 19, I came in here for some cheering up and christmas chat.
