17th place and 3 points goes to....

Marc Almond and Gene Pitney-Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart, submitted by
    Irish Aris

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes
Have I listened to this song before? Yes
Do you know the original ? Yes

Its a good track. I like the vocals and the smooth rhythm makes it a nice listen. Its nothing spectacular and other songs will rate higher, but it’s a good track.

Sadly its not an improvement on the original, though Marc Almonds vocals do it no hard. Its just not strong enough to place higher.

The original is over played at this stage but it was very enjoyable but I found it could have been more. This is a fine piece of instrumental work, but the song suffers from the lack of lyrics. The lyrics are what made the song so popular, and without them it’s lacking. Fine but nothing spectacular at all.

One of Rihanna’s better tracks and one I'm fond of. Well this is a splendid cover, its toe tapping good and it's got me bopping away. Lead singer has vocals which remind me of Erasure and I can't help but enjoy this. This honky tonk take on Umbrella is music to my ears. Good choice. Its got that “play me again” quality and it just works.

    Love it.

    My favourite cover band!

You must be dreading this round knowing how bad this track fared earlier.

While I will admit it's a slight improvement over the original, it simply is too similar to the original song I dislike. Just not a fan sadly. I just am sick of the melody.

You knew it was coming and I tried to give it a fair shot, it is just not my taste. Sorry.

Great tune. Not familiar with the original though but surprised it ranked so low.

Never been a huge APC fan, and I never really liked the John Lennon original, so this cover is up against it from the get go. But I must admit, I really do enjoy this. From the slow tempo, to the orchestral backup, this really clicks with me. Slight vibes of Led Zepplin’s Kashmir here and as the song continues, I can't help but love it. It's sinister in its delivery and works way better than the original ever did. Maybe I should check out more A Perfect Circle.

    Top prize Fixxxer

Nice to see you didn't know my entry beaker. Such a great song.

Not widely known it's a cover, originally a folk song.

Was tempted to enter this though, but felt it could be a bit risky :D

NKOTB - Step by Step, submitted by Irish Aris

Have I listened to this artist before? Yes
Have I listened to this song before? Yes

Initially I thought "80’s cheese and I love it". Its got those nostalgic feels and its extremely stereotypical boy band.
But as I assessed other tracks and re listened, it went down and down. The vocals aren't great to be kind and the beat gets old fast. Better boy band tracks and better NKOTB songs. Unlucky IA.

How were NKOTB last, they have got the right stuff ;)

Nah, I've had last place at least once before (Barney and Mr K did not appreciate The Lonely Island), possibly more but can't remember without going back and checking all the reveals... Its good to come last every now and again anyway, gives you a kick up the hole and shakes away the complacency. ;)
