What's this lot's obsession with shouting "paedo scum" at people?

Calling counter protestors paedos. Gathering outside Montrose calling RTE paedo protectors. Hanging banners over the Stillorgan dual carriageway showing the same thing. In fairness at least that had "paedo" spelt correctly. Most of them don't even know how to spell the word.

Who are these paedos RTE are protecting?

    No.

Why would I need to speak to someone to know they haven't managed to do something impossible?

That's like me needing to speak to the whole population to assert that no human can fly unaided.

I think you are mixing up sex and gender. But it is a nice reminder that although we've been told that sex is biology and gender is a made up concept, people still want to conflate the two.

maybe, we just need to accept other peoples opinions and choices in life, particularly when it isnt much of a problem for ourselves, who are we to judge

Seriously though, how **** does your life have to be to spend your Saturdays walking around town with a load of other facebook addicts calling everyone paedos.

I see these people as victims of over use of social media. I feel genuine sympathy for them.

Being anti mask isn't far right

No but its used a recruitment tool for them

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I imagine it's to do with the Roderic O'Gorman/Peter Tatchell business, which is fair enough. RTÉ did repeatedly refer to the protests about O'Gorman's association with Tatchell as being homophobic, which was clearly not the case for most of the people involved. Matt Cooper interviewed Tatchell, and didn't press him on the issues at all. He just accepted Tatchell's claim that he was misrepresented (debateable, at best), his claim that he didn't know when he wrote a chapter for a book nicknamed "the paedophile's handbook" that the book was associated with a group who wanted to legalise paedophila, and that when he wrote an obituary for a senior member of the same group that he hadn't known about the guy's views on paedophilia.
I know Cooper doesn't work for RTÉ, but RTÉ were no better. None of that stuff got any serious coverage on RTÉ (if it got any coverage at all - I didn't see any).

And the sort of people who were protesting yesterday's protests were, in general, also defending Roderic O'Gorman and Peter Tatchell, so while I don't think it's helpful chanting "paedo scum" at them (any more than it's helpful when they chant "Nazi scum"), I can certainly understand where it's coming from.

That's not the first time there's been clips of that guy being very aggressive and sounding dangerously unhinged.

I have a question mark in my comment...as do you...report away.

There is other footage btw at other angles, there is no defence for physical violence, there were seemingly two women (one of them ended up with a nasty gash on her head) versus a large group of men led by Craig Fitzsimmons...

Is there any evidence of this? I've only seen the injured male. Was the injured woman also AntiFa?

It could be argued that anti mask is libertarian - upholding liberty as the core principle - not far right anyway
I'd agree with that - libertarianism is essentially the belief that nobody owes anything to anybody, and that there are no common bonds or obligations holding anybody together - be they friends, family or society.

Wearing a mask does require the mildest of inconveniences to the wearer for short periods of time - to help prevent people nearby from catching the virus (should one have it onself) - so it's fair to conclude that not wearing a mask is a virtue-signal to everybody around that one don't care about them, and that one's short-term, mild inconvenience is more important than their long-term health.

So yes, I think you're quite right to say it's libertarian.

Just saw that "Dee Wall" one was one of the speakers yesterday. Again, if you find yourself standing in a crowd listening to a thicko like her speaking into a microphone, its time to re-evaluate your entire life. Thats rock bottom stuff. Speak to a friend or family member immediately.

I wholeheartedly agree. But that needs to be levelled at all people and not just a few.

Was he there? ‘Antifa’ is being anti fascist in Ireland isn’t an organised group

“We’re homophobic and racist, but they once had a pedophile at a march many years ago. Therefore all the left are paedos but we’re the defenders of Ireland”

    Ah yes that makes sense

    Exactly

I’m sure some of the problem yesterday are just broadly misinformed

But the more dangerous fringes of our society (Gilroy, Wall, o Doherty, Waters) are latching on to that and being given a platform to spread what is incredibly dangerous rhetoric

The person with blood on their head in the photos is a woman? Is that the case?
