    Hi,

For the last week or so we have been having internet connectivity problems.

We have Virgin 240mb package - it's been working perfectly for years.

For the last year or so it has been operating in Modem mode with Google Wifi connected to it.

    What's happening now:
    - Speedtests are fine (200mbps on ethernet, between 30-100mbps on wifi devices)
    - Certain websites working fine (boards.ie, youtube, gmail, bbc)
    - Other websites not working at all
    - On twitter, the website is loading, but no tweets or content are loading
    - twitter app on my phone not refreshing at all. When i switch to 4g it's perfect
    - www.apple.com is one that takes an age to load, but then eventually does load fully
    - www.argos.ie is another that does not load at all. Just times out.
    - it's the same on my desktop, laptop and phone.
    - it's the same on wifi or ethernet (tested on my desktop)
    - The above are just examples - there are dozens of websites not working for me and I can't figure out why

Tried virgin support but they said they cannot support me because I am in Modem mode.

On my network log on my router page there is a few "Critical" events:

    Here is an example:
    No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out;CM-MAC=90:5c:44:60:a1:13;CMTS-MAC=00:17:10:93:57:0c;CM-QOS=1.1;CM-VER=3.0;

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance

It sounds like a DNS issue. What DNS Ip addresses are you using? Virgin's or a third-party?

Outa interest, what modem are you using @whatawaster
Im trying to get to the bottom of a somewhat similar issue, but believed it to be with the new 1g modem, but may not be if you are experiencing this with other

    That’s odd

In the google WiFi app my DNS is set to google DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4)

But when I go to this address http://192.168.86.1/api/v1/status

It shows my dns nameservers as 89.101.160.5 and 160.4

I think it’s just a status page for your google WiFi connection

Update - for the moment, this looks to be fixed.

I changed the primary/secondary DNS settings in the app to 89.101.160.4 / 89.101.160.5 and sites are all loading again

Are we able to change the DNS from virgins router settings?
