Reminded that for years I thought Ritz biscuits were Irish.
Also, TG4's Hugo/huidai is actually a Danish character licenced. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2iaO3mTnUuk still didn't stop this BO'Cstrosity.

Diageo plc (/diˈædʒioʊ/) is a British multinational beverage alcohol company, with its headquarters in London, England. They operate in more than 180 countries and produce in more than 140 sites around the world. It was the world's largest distiller until being overtaken by China's Kweichow Moutai on 9 April 2017.

Guinness is Irish, it was developed in Ireland by an Irishman.

It originated in Ireland by an Irishman.
It's intellectual capital is in Ireland, and major production facilities.
It's an Irish drink, with all the complexities of what being 'Irish' means over the years including forms you disagree with.

Diegeo are a multi-national. I don't think anyone would seriously claim Ketel One or their Tequilas brands as being English drinks anymore than their HQ being in London makes Guinness an English drink.

Its HQ is in London, you can call the rest what you like.. moved during the 30s due to the Anglo Irish trade wars like a good Irish business would.

    Anyways we'll agree to differ.

The company is German owned, but still made here and Tayto (as a company within Intersnack) has its HQ here.
It's different to Lyons and Siucra which don't seem to have any real connection to Ireland anymore.

But Guinness is still an Irish product that is manufactured in Ireland, I don't see how the corporate ownership matters.

The Irish independent (freeman's journal at one point) is owned by a company registered in Belgium. So I don't think parents are a great indicator of Irish not Irish. Guinness is Irish imo. I'm recently disappointed to learn that St Patrick is not exclusive to us as our patron saint. Shocked, no less to learn he had 'played away' and also is a patron saint of another country......

That reminds me, as a kid, I thought 1971's sunday Bloody Sunday was set in Norn Iron. It's actually about London Jews and homosexuality.
Daniel Day Lewis appears as a 12 year old London street kid.

Yes I know, I used Kerrygold and Murphys as an example history wise vs Guinness. Murphy was one of the members for starting AIB too iirc and the same bank closed him or Murphys should I say.

After reading all the History of the Guinness company, its far from a class act Irish comapany imo.

Take Dunlop and Ford in the early 1900ish had plants in Cork both with Irish connections, both regarded excellent places to work with non of the antics going on in the Guinness setup. Same for the lads that set up Beamish&Crawford in Cork.
