    20. Nick Timoney | Scott Penny
    21. David Shanahan | Rowan Osborne
    22. Bill Johnston | Harry Byrne
    23. Louis Ludik | Jimmy O'Brien

    Referee: George Clancy (Leinster Rugby)
Assistants: Eoghan Cross (IRFU), Andrew Brace (IRFU)
    TMO: Brian MacNeice (IRFU)

Despite some solid efforts from Awec and Paul S in the buildup thread, it was a fairly tame affair. Hopefully the game is a bit better, not a 0 -0, if I learned anything from that thread it was that George loves a 0 - 0 win to Leinster.

You'd have to back Ulster to stop Leinster's streak though given the teamsheets.

Sadly it isn't the team-sheets that are playing but the actual players.:D

Ulster should win but, even if they do, will awec be happy?

I think we know the answer.

In all seriousness, it's something of a trope within rugby but it is very much true this evening...the team with the superior players from 6-10 will win this game. That's where the clash is here and the most influential players on both sides by a margin.

On paper, that's Ulster but I really wouldn't underestimate a couple of the Leinster players. If Coetzee plays as well as he's capable of, then I can't see past Ulster though.

The Aviva is The D4Tress and Ulster are gonna get Leinstertained!!!

Having looked at that Leinster team, its not as far off Ulster as I first thought.

Cronin, Toner and Kearney have about 200 caps between them. Deegan is a quality player. JGP and Byrne are excellent at this level. Rory O'Laughlin is no mug at 13 either.

I think Ulster shluld have an edge in the back row, and possibly the midfield if McCloskey gets on top of Frawley, but it could be one enough. I wouldn't be that surprised if Leinster turned us over.

Having said that I'm expecting a stronger lineout with Herring and Carter starting and O'Toole lifting, plus Rea gives us another good option.

    Ulster need this one.

Be nice bragging rights if Ulster end Leinster's run.

On the other hand a loss after last weeks performance against Connacht would undermine Ulster's progress under McFarland.

Disappointed when turning on my tv to discover that eir sport is jo longer on viegin media

Grubber in the 22 is clearly a new tactic. That's two weeks in a row it's led to a try.

    Really liking it

Some start. Frawley at 12 could be a really useful option going forward.

Nice for the commentator to let us know that Madigan's hair is perfect and shorts are tight.

And his chances of winning love island. Quality journalism

“Madigan, hair immaculate and shorts tight, would be a winner on love island if he was on it”

Great for Ed Byrne to get the opening score.

Would've been nice if Kearney had tipped that on to Kelleher.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,697 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Poor from McCloskey. That offload was never on. There was a tracking defender waiting for it and he threw it anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,366 ✭✭✭yerrahbah

Ulster know they are meant to pass the ball backwards right?

    About 4 knock ons already

Gibson Park has been exceptional at times the opening 10

Accidental slap down - just unlucky.

Ulster can complain about Clancy but their discipline has been very poor already. Some really daft, soft penalties already which have led to being 10 down.

    Reflex but certainly not accidental.

Super steal from Deegan. Leinster were in big trouble. Ulster were breaking tackles and forcing the Leinster defence to retreat.

Think someone is looking to get a date with madigan. Appalling commentary

I'm chuckling away at the commentary. Only occasionally does commentary add to the context of a game - when it doesn't I'd rather be amused by it.

Michael Bent is a brick wall.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,697 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Some signs of a varied kicking game from Leinster. Saw Sexton last week chipping into the 22 and now JGP faking a box kick and Byrne kicking into the gap between wing and fullback. Both times they've led a great attacking platform for us

It’s like listening to someone talk about a girl they claim they don’t like. If they were kids he’d run onto the pitch and pull madigans hair.

There was clearly crossing in midfield for Treadwell to get the line break no?

To be fair to Mark Robson he learned at the feet of the great Jim Neely , always a great man for the utterly irrelevant non sequitur.

Madigans passing - "Rip the flesh off your fingers"

    This is terrific stuff.

Not impressed by Clancy there. Missed crossing and JGP getting taken out despite bit being part of the ruck.

    Home team decision.

Madigan successfully completed a pass: Madigan for Ireland.

Gibson Park running a great show here. Good understanding between him and Byrne - terrific to see so far.

That depends very much upon your point of view

    Can someone check on Awec?

Frawley having a savage game so far

I was going to say that the crowd noise wasn't as noticeable today as it was in the last game.

But I realised it's because the commentary is drowning it out by not taking a breath.

Ulster are incredible at screwing things up for themselves here. They're Leinster's 16th man.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,697 ✭✭✭✭Clegg

Very slick loop back to JGP which opened to space for our players to run into space wide. Nice strike play.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,454 ✭✭✭Dave_The_Sheep

JGP is in some serious form today.

Connor Murray not exactly quaking in his boots tonight

    Poor from Cooney

Cooney sums up his team's performance so far.

Great bit of predictive play from Connors.

Certainly not from Cooney. 3 poor errors in the last 7 or 8 minutes.

JGP putting himself very much in the picture for a call up though.

    Jaysus, what's happened to cooney.
