Boards Champions League 20/21

Going to run a Champions League style FPL competition. Quick details below, with all the finer details in the posts afterwards.

- 50 euros entry

- 16 entries maximum

- Prize Pot : 1st - 600 euros. 2nd - 200 euros

- 10 group stage matches for all teams

- Knockout stages take place in December + January

GROUP STAGE
- 4 groups of 4 teams.
- Groups A + B in Eastern Conference, Groups C + D in Western Conference

- Each team plays 10 group stage matches
- 3 points for a win, 1 point for a draw.
- head to head used for group table ties (see tiebreaker scenarios)
- Group A teams play each other twice (6 matches)
- Group B teams play each other twice (6 matches)
- Group A teams play Group B teams (remaining 4 matches)
*same format for Groups C + D*

No draw required for the group stage.
- standings at the end of fpl gameweek 1 determine the group draws
- Group A - 1st, 8th, 9th, 16th
- Group B - 2nd, 7th, 10th, 15th
- Group C - 3rd, 6th, 11th, 14th
- Group D - 4th, 5th, 12th, 13th

Full fixture list for the Group Stage will be up after gameweek 1 completed.
- First 3 rounds of fixtures played against teams in your own group, e.g. A vs A
- Next 4 rounds of fixtures against teams in other group, e.g. A vs B
- Last 3 rounds of fixtures played against teams in your own group, e.g. A vs A
- Group fixtures take place in the following FPL gameweeks :
- gw2, gw3, gw4, break, gw6, gw7, gw8, gw9, break, gw 11, gw12, gw13.

KNOCKOUT STAGE
- 6 teams qualify for the knockout rounds (3 from each Conference)
- 3 from each conference = 2 group winners + best runner up
- Each knockout round is a 2 legged tie including the final
- knockout fixtures take place in gw15, gw16, gw17, gw18, break, gw20, gw21

Quarter Finals
- 1 group winner (most points) in each conference gets bye into semi finals
- QF lineup :
- Eastern Conference group winner vs Western Conference best runner up
- Western Conference group winner vs Eastern Conference best runner up

Semi Finals
- Teams who received a bye to this stage cannot meet each other
- if possible, these 'bye teams' will play teams from the other conference
- otherwise, bye team will play best runner up team from same conference

Final
- 2 legged tie (this will give sides a proper fighting chance if up against chips!)

TIEBREAKER SCENARIOS

Group Stage
- If teams are level on points at the end group stage, tiebreaker will be head to head results between those 2 teams (if both teams won 1 game each, aggregate scores count).
- If more than 2 teams are tied on points, points won in matches between the 3 tied teams will come into play. If still level, aggregate scores in matches involving just those 3 teams come into play.
- If still tied after the above scenarios, the team with the highest FPL overall rank will win the tiebreak.

Conference Stage
- If teams are tied regards Conference seedings for 1st or 2nd places, head to head result between the tied teams is the deciding factor
- If that match was a draw, tiebreak criteria from *knockout stage below comes into play, i.e. total goals scored by all selected players in that head to head match, etc.

Knockout Stage
- 1. TOTAL GOALS SCORED by all selected players in the 2 legged ties (including all chips so bench boost goals count, regular captain goals worth double, triple captain goals worth triple etc.)

2. If still tied, TOTAL ASSISTS by all selected players in the 2 legged ties (including all chips so bench boost assists count, regular captain assists worth double, triple captain assists worth triple etc.)

3. Sum of all CAPTAIN TOTALS in the 2 legged ties (triple captain will also count in this)

4. Fewest RED&YELLOW card points by all selected players in the 2 legged ties (including all chips so bench boost cards count, regular captain cards worth double, triple captain cards worth triple etc.) based on my disciplinary points system
- yellow card = 1 point
- regular captain yellow card = 2 points
- triple captain yellow card = 3 points

- red card = 3 points
- regular captain red card = 6 points
- triple captain red card = 9 points

CANCELLATION/POSTPONEMENT scenarios will be as follows :

1. In the event of a curtailed season, all eliminated players will remain so. The pot will then be split evenly between all remaining players in the game. Each stage must be completed before players are eliminated, i.e. group stage is only completed after all 10 rounds take place. Each knockout round is only completed once the 2 legs of each tie take place.

2. A gameweek will be considered completed once more than 1 Premier League fixture is played.

3. In the case of FPL gameweeks being postponed, Champions League fixtures will continue on their scheduled FPL gameweeks, with the postponed fixtures being played at the end of the group stage, thus pushing back the start of the knockout stages.
