Claire (finally ) asked a contributor - Verona Murphy - a few difficult questions, alas returned to an easy ride when it came to Mary Lou - obvious open goals missed again.

Claire doesn't seem to react to what the contributors are saying.

I think you've hit the nail on the head!! Very bland radio.

Mary Lou is the master of saying a lot while still saying nothing.

It almost sounds like you're describing a politician.

Claire arrives with prepared questions. Cannot think outside those parameters unlike SOR and S MaC. Not a bad interviewer but she cannot think on her feet, unable move in for the kill.

Again, stumbling over your words in a squeeky voice shouting GOTCHA! is not thinking on your feet. You just sound like your stumbling over your words shouting gotcha!

    a bleedin sports interview now?

I turned it off. The last couple of mornings I've listened it's been sports stuff. I thought the show was more about serious current events [aside from sport]. I get people need a bit of light relief but that wasn't what the show was about before...was it? Maybe I'm wrong...

there is loads of dedicated sport content on RTE Radio, jesus christ

As one who prefers to watch the live broadcast on the website as opposed to just listening to it, I much prefer watching Claire Byrne. Easier on the eye. Sarah McInerney had a sexier voice though.

Really bad, switched to PK for the rest of the morning.

Disapointed with the Mary Lou interview. Was she invited on, like every other guest, for her opinion on Phil Hogan or was she invited on to answer questions on her own actions and that of her party colleagues?

It started with Phil Hogan and then very quickly, and for the remainder of the interview, focused on Sinn Féin.

A very mildly moist interview for sure.

More Lifestyle programming - switched over to PK

Claire should not discuss sports / football - clearly hasn't a clue of the topics - someone else needs to come in for sports elements of the show

She’s on for a bit of both, SF can’t tale the moral high ground when it comes to social distancing and quarantine.

The questions on Martina Anderson had to be asked in light of what she said yesterday.

Have also taken to listening to Neill Prendeville on Corks Red FM, mostly as a podcast. Full of nutters characters but a very entertaining current affairs show.

(PS. Have to declare Cork roots :D:D:D)

    Didn’t hear it.

Must have been bad if you switched to Doctor Pat.

    Perhaps.

But if MacDonald wants to point fingers at those who flaunt Covid rules she should point them at everybody.

Pointing them only at hogan while ignoring the circus storey funeral makes her the supreme hypocrite.

McDonald came out swinging as usual and ended up on the defensive. Her criticisms of the government over Hogans position rang extremely hollow. All they can do is address Hogan and appeal to him directly, they cannot be seen to be trying to direct the commission into any course of action. What more does McDonald think they should be doing?

Probably things involving the use of piano wire.........

Maybe they should have CB on the website with a voiceover from mcinerney.

Why are we not surprised to read cork roots and nutters in the same post?

    Just saying, like.

No lamenting on PK - all talk about his replacement

I listen online, I'm sick of that stupid Imelda May advert.

What's the appeal with the "dublin poetry" style? "meandar a gander"

Emmet Kirwin started this all off and it sucks!

Quite a bit so far on the impact of the resignatoin. Not lamenting Phil but quite clear on the impact both to EU and Ireland with regard to trade deals.

It looks like he had built up a lot of respect and connections in the role.

Two issues with that - and CB has forgotten to mention - 1) An EU commissioner acts for the EU not for the interests of his home country and 2) Phil was actively seeking other roles - WTO - with government support

Listening to Claire interviewing Josephia Madigan - Claire was feeding answers when Josephia was getting stuck eg Sna supports

Didn't listen this morning but 5 posts so far, CB must really be on fire with all the political shenanigans going on?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,240 ✭✭✭Mav11
