PBH grilling the minister on carbon emission targets but now normal service is resumed - an incoming wave of Covid is expected.

Edited to add: then later nearly wet his underpants covering fires in London supposedly called by Global Warming.

'Today' with NKM, (hosted by Claire Byrne) - update

Philip has now done 8 shows standing in this time. Only 'confirmed' NK management parasite on so far was Eoin McGee today. Although Geraldine Herbert (motoring) was on yesterday and for some reason, my NKM detector starts to twitch when Geraldine appears. My NKM detector hasn't let me down yet. Hi Jen Hogan *waves*

PBH has his faults but a good man to have in the hot seat this past week or so with all the carbon reduction discussion. He's done his research in the matter and looked at the situation from various angles.

So interesting to hear him really nailing some of the hypocrisy thrown about and in a position to challenge people on the hoof.

Mind you he hasn't really tackled the sacred cow of the aviation industry yet, a few comments with the Corry lobbyist yesterday which were palmed off.

like her or loathe her, Verona got a good few digs in, had me giggling.

Quite a meltdown from Colm , rather enjoyable to listen back to it , missed the show but heard about his embarrassing performance on Twitter.

I'm sensing, Colm still seething after his last put down on Katie Hannons Saturday show by Lord Pompous Hayes who was filling in a few weeks back , I watched Brohys Petulant performance on RTE news channel, it was extraordinary.

Brohy adept at bully boy tactics when part of a panel . Odious buffoon, first got elected after 16th count, second time on 10th count.

I say keep letting him on as spokesperson, it's delicious 😁

No, she got started going on about agriculture and couldn't let it go. At one stage PBH had Brophy on the ropes with a sharp question as to who was to pick up the tab for a reduction in agri targets and was this fair. Brophy was struggling, when Verona let him completely off the hook by butting in again on how it was going to ruin farming livelihoods. It was cringy and very poor thinking on her part, unless she wanted to rescue him.

PBH back in today, has Claire taken a long term break. Grand, extend it till next year and beyond.

    Listened back to this today.

I can't for the life of me see how you/Ml O Regan objected to anything Colm Brophy said. I thought he was the most articulate and coherent member on the panel, including the host. The journalist and Verona were clueless. The other two lacked objectivity and incisiveness.

At last someone with a bit of sense rather than pure prejudice.

If you want someone to bust through pompous hosts and is not afraid to take chancers like O’Regan et al on, who ya gonna call?

    Colm is your man.

    Thanks BB.

Logic and even common sense seems to be a stranger to them.

Endless climate change chat on the show with PBH, although important, really tedious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,717 ✭✭✭touts

To be fair Philip just gave that waffler from Fuels for Ireland (the crowd who run the petrol forecourt cartels....sorry not cartels, they all just magically come up with the same price rises at the same time) one hell of a hammering over their plan to sue the government to stop the climate change bill asking them to help reduce carbon emissions.

PBH really deserves his own show. The Saturday lunchtime slot would be perfect for him. He gives everyone an equal kicking and would return that show to being the flagship political discussion show on Irish radio rather than the weekly Trotskyist propaganda slot Katie turned it into.

If he could dial down the Smugmeter he seems to have always on 100% to about 45% I’d say yes.

I thought he did badly against that McPartlin guy from the Fuels Industry Lobby. Hayes may be sure of his ground but he did this interview poorly; the questions were scattergun, he constantly interrupted, he exasperated McP, seemed to expect their Lobby to invest time and money in cutting fuel consumption - at one point seemed to expect them to have staff on the forecourts 'advising' (yes) motorists to have their tyre pressures checked. Absurd .He didn't even understand the basis of the action the Lobby were proposing.

Nothing was resolved, at the close confusion reigned. He's not a patch on Samantha Libreri.

PBH stepping on Joe Dufffy's toes today discussing the Puck Fair goat. Joe won't like that

'Today' with NKM, (hosted by Claire Byrne) - update #2

PBH has filled in for 19 shows to date. In those 19 shows, only 3 confirmed NKM ticks have appeared

Eoin McGee, Diarmuid Gavin, Dr David Coleman (although Dr Harry Barry was on yesterday and he's a suspect in my book)

Binty Byrne would've had 12/14 ticks in over that 19 programmes

The show seemed to be drifting back into hairdresser type radio this week so maybe this heralds Binty's return soon.
