The Grinder because the waitress from Always Sunny is in it

    The Ringer because Buffy

Is it obvious I've never seen or heard of any of these?

Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
    The Black Donnellys

The Black Donnellys ; quality cast, quality show, taken from us too soon (which is true for all the shows in the mix to be fair, but this one especially had so so much potential.

Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip ; Matthew Perry and Bradley Whitford in their best roles outside of Friends and The West Wing... 'nuff said

I don't know any of these :pac:

Yes now, that's more like it. I'll throw a vote in for:

Constantine - Retroactively added to the Arrowverse, I watched this mainly because he's my favourite character on Legends of Tomorrow. I was thinking of nominating it for that very reason, but honestly, as a series, it's only okay. Like Supernatural without the fun. But still happy to vote for it

That's the only one I've seen, so just the one vote from me, though I am tempted to show some love for Team Knight Rider. I bloody loved the OG and most recent reboot of KR

Studio 60 and Alcatraz - both my nominations!
Studio 60 absolutely deserved more seasons. Bradley Whitford and Matthew Perry were just fantastic. And Aaron Sorkin writing? Enough said.

I'll vote for the only 2 Im remotely familar with, my so called life and constantine please.

Like can you even say you watch television if you don't know any of those?

*I'm aware having nominated 51 shows for this tournament, I am the one who is the loser, but whatever, it's just a bit of banter... ;)

The Black Donnellys sounds like something I'd watch

and a pity vote for My Dead Dad because it sounds so bad it could be trainwreck tv

My Dead Dad was quite funny when you were pisht.
That reminds me of another show I forgot to nominate, The High Life a great Scottish sitcom about air stewards. Alan Cumming starred in it.

I will add in one of the other up coming rounds

I haven’t seen any of these so I’ll cast one more vote for Tiger King :D

Tiger King was close with Freaks & Geeks

Not seen any but as a fan of Sorkin, Studio 60 is on my tbw list. So I vote for that.

The only other one I heard of is My So Called and while it has a good rep I can’t bring myself to vote for it as I I don’t like the cast.

Also, whoohoo, Tiger King is out (and hopefully soon forgotten).

Pilot was great, but I don't think it consistently hit those heights again.
    Wonderful cast.

Ah but back then they weren't Claire Danes & Jared Leto et al
They were just Angela Chase and Jordan Catalano... I still remember the names of the characters without having to IMDB it.
Its good rep is thoroughly deserved though it may have dated somewhat.

I watched and really liked The Black Donnellys, so a vote for that.

Team Knight Rider was a travesty, if it has a chance of getting through I'll vote for something else to keep it out.

The Black Donnellys, a great ensemble cast.

I've remembered a few more one season wonders that I didn't include in my list and am kicking myself. :o

One of them could do well if it was nominated by someone.

Is there anyone out there who wants to collude to vote for the same two series other than Firefly? :pac:

necro I'm looking at you :D

Firefly ; it's hard not to love Firefly (there's obviously something wrong with Necro and Shane, but I already knew that), and while overall there's other shows I'd like to see the tournament more and tactically it might be better to not throw this Goliath a vote in the early days, but there's nothing else that it's up against here, that I can justify not voting for Firefly, as it is class.

Reverie ; I've never heard of this before but after looking at the IMDB page and watching the trailer, and adding in the fact I love Sarah Shahi on Person of Interest, and Dennis Haysbert on 24, I'll definitely be checking this out. There's some other shows of this bunch that I have actually seen at least a few episodes of and thought they were fine (none that I'm absolutely crazy about though), Reverie seems more interesting to me than any of them, so gets my vote.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,421 ✭✭✭✭Kolido

Firefly and havent seen any of the others, Im going to vote Reverie

Just look at the premise, I mean whats not to like :D

    Round 4

Two of my nominees in this lot, so it's an easy choice for me

Good Omens - Never read the book, but the show was great fun from start to finish. Started slow but man oh man, did things pick up. Tennant and Sheen are a match made in Heaven. Or Hell, whatever your persuasion

Reverie - Quite a fun show, has a few mysteries to keep you going. I'm not surprised it didn't get renewed for a second season, but I'm definitely not disappointed by the time spent watching it

Last Resort had one of my favourite pilot episodes of any TV show. Sadly it went downhill very quickly, and rushed to an abrupt ending when they realised it wasn't been renewed

Firefly, I honestly think is overrated. It's okay, but I'd much rather Dark Matter

Dark Matter is amazing, and I would rate it higher than Firefly. Even though it lasted 3 seasons, it still got cancelled far too soon.

Devs and Terriers, never heard of them but they look ok.

Here here! I honestly don't get the love for it.

Undeclared ; great show, the natural successor to Freaks & Geeks, given it was essentially the same people behind it, Seth Rogen was one of the main characters and quite a lot of the Freaks & Geeks cast guest starred. Also was the show that kickstarted the careers of Jay Baruchel and Charlie Hunnam.

Trophy Wife ; another of those late '00s/early '10s ABC sitcoms that suffered from having a terrible name and poor marketing, because much like Happy Endings and Cougar Town it's a really solid comedy that a lot of people dismissed purely because it was called Trophy Wife. And just look at some of the quality names in the cast... Bradley Whitford, Malin Akerman, Marcia Gay Harden, and Natalie Morales

    Round 4

Firefly - re-watched it recently and it's still hugely enjoyable

Good Omens - the book is one of my all-time favourite books, and they did a pretty good job with the series. Tennant and Sheen are absolutely perfectly cast and look like they were having a great time making it.

Both my nominations, so I can actually vote for shows in this round. Unlike round 5 where I've never heard of most of them so I'm passing.

I think if you enjoyed Inception you will enjoy Reverie

    Round 4

    Good Omens
    Reverie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,443 ✭✭✭davetherave

Four of my noms up in round 4.

Combat Hospital, Last Resort, The Great Outdoors, and Pan Am.

I remember way back hearing the hype about Firefly and getting some dodgy 480p downloads it, never made it past the first episode. Started again on Amazon Prime Video and got up to episode 8. Just had a look at it and it has been removed from "Included with Prime" and it's not on Netflix either but I'm honestly not pushed about not being able to finish it off. I like sci-fi, the 2003 Battlestar Galacticia would be up there as one of my favourite shows of all time, I just don't get the hype/cult around Firefly.

That note aside, of the four I've listed about The Great Outdoors is probably the weakest of those so that gets the chop.
Watching Pan-Am again at the moment so that and Combat Hospital.
