Chair broken within warranty

Hi All. Bought an expensive recliner in Nov/Dec 2019 and has broken in the last week or so. Essentially the chair cannot be fixed The furniture store says it's under warranty but I know for a fact they don't make the chair anymore so my question is am i liable for a full refund or does it have to be store credit?

If you're claiming under warranty, you (and they) are bound by the exact terms of the warranty, so it's whatever that says. If you choose to claim under the Sale of Goods legislation, you're entitled to one of the three Rs: repair, refund, replace. Generally it's retailer's choice (within reason e.g. they can't just keep repairing an item that has a fundamental flaw).
