Staycation - car hire

Cannot find a proper place to put this...

So with the ads on TV that car hire companies are at a loss with no tourists can anyone recommend a car hire company

Thinking of popping away for a drive for a long weekend (need to get outta Dublin for a break) - maybe to Belfast, then Donegal, Galway and who knows after that (been a while since in Wexford)...

Looking for cheap (any deals going?) that accepts debit card - don't mind if they have to take 500 euro or something up front.

Mods - feel free to move to a more appropriate place if necessary.

Just go on to car rentals and get the best deal there.

Also their insurance costs are crazy. This is outside the price they quote.

Go to, 50 euro for the year.

Whatever about the west etc.. most rental companies here charge a loading / wont rent premium cars if youre going up north with it.

Go Car are in a lot of major cities now and you can take them anywhere in the island of Ireland including the North as far as I know (open to correction on this)

Usually have a daily rate and then 10 cent per kilometer. Sounds a bit more expensive than traditional rental companies but they have a fuel card for Circle K so you don't have to pay extra to re-fuel. In addition, they have a comprehensive full "no questions asked" insurance policy which the traditional companies would charge a fortune for.

Actually works out as decent value, although the branding on the cars I think is awful but if that doesn't bother you it could be an option.
