is it my imagination or is there annoying background music all through first 20 mins of Mondays soccer pod. I presume that’s not normally there?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,469 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

The report on sport music? That's been there basically since the beginning of Second Captains.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 550 ✭✭✭Tucker.Tim

Now that I’ve been listening to Big Migs’ Arsenal takes more critically because of all the Patreon arse fans praise, he’s as wrong on them as every other football take he has, and I’m someone who has a soft spot for Arsenal.

Says there’s reasons to believe then lists twenty reasons there isn’t and bigs up Ben White like he’s anything other than a decent turkey-basted right back..

To be fair Ben White was possibly the best right full in the league last season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 736 ✭✭✭bamayang

Ya but it usually fades out 1-2 mins after the report on sport intro music. This ran on for 15-20 minutes yesterday, dont think thats the norm - unless I dont normally hear it over car humm.

i wonder why you listen. You appear to hate everyone on the pod, including the SC lads themselves.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,469 ✭✭✭Rocket_GD

It quietens a bit but it’s always there in the background until the end of the segement, car must drown it out.

So he can get annoyed at the 'wokeness' presumably.

Marcy Marc is as incompetent as Delaney but far less fun.

And Branno, RTE let the LoI slip because the status it has in the general population is no where near what you or the diehards think it is and RTE have shown they will not overpay for content multiple times post-Tubridy. The GAA could put a live feed of a ball bouncing in Croke Park on RTE and stress the types of numbers Branno was crowing about for Derry-Shelbourne.

The lads are in an absolute bubble when it comes to the LoI. Branno I understand because he's made his identity being the LoI ultra but it's so clear the rest of them are grandstanding about a league they barely pay attention to in a supposedly transformatively hot period. The proof is in the pudding and RTE are the ones who will be proven right in the long term. There's frankly a lot better uses of taxpayer and RTE money than 36 rounds of live LoI stuff 100,000 people will watch over all platforms, if they're lucky.

Jaysus, now we all know a little bit more about penile implants.

Is this really what people had in mind in relation to the "Internet of Things"

Imagine if that app got hacked.

They never paid any attention at all to the LoI for years and now they do (a bit) which is a good thing.

Some clubs are now selling out most of their home games, that wasn't happening a few years ago.

Long long way to go but the signs are very encouraging.

Brought the youngfella to last year's FAI cup final, a fun day out.

There’s something funny about eventually acknowledging that Eileen Gleeson is no longer with the national team by discussing how her male assistant was treated.

On the whole RTE sticking it in their press release that "yeah we'll show a bit of the LOI as well, whatever" McBennett going on about it just about making sense from a cost perspective. Mate you are a public broadcaster - does the Angelus bring in revenue with that logic. I'm not a LOI ultra by the way have been to less that 10 games in my life.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,495 ✭✭✭bren2001

well the Angelus is cheap (almost free). LoI is quite expensive.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,200 ✭✭✭✭Hotblack Desiato

The Angelus is free, if you value your morality and integrity at zero. 😝

If they dropped the Angelus every rural TD would be on their back. RTE don't want it, viewers (almost entirely) don't want it, but like Irish in school we're stuck with it.

Fully expect a Monday pod with Dion and Miguel to explain again why Arne Slot is a fraud and Arteta is a football genius

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 550 ✭✭✭Tucker.Tim

And as a public broadcaster with a history of overspending offering to cover even 20 games in such a niche league when there’s so much time given over to both male soccer and male teams sports in general already never made sense from a public broadcasting perspective, either.

And please for the love of god don’t say the LoI Taliban mantra of “sure take off the Champions League, it’s not even Irish teams” as if that isn’t something many, many more people actually want to sit down and watch and decent ad buy rates can be achieved with.

Feels like you are arguing with yourself here ? Or arguing with people who aren't on this thread at least…

The Brighton disallowed goal is one for Kens theory of not accepting decisions. Totally correct call by the Var but if Dalot didn't stay down it wouldn't have been given.

I guess Ken’s hero is back to being Ruben Interim again this week

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 832 ✭✭✭cheese sandwich

Ken credits Amorim for any good Utd result and blames everyone else when they lose. He needed a new hero after the tragedy of Stephen Kenny and he’s found one.

RTE don't show a lot of male soccer. Some CL games, a few internationals a year, FAI cup final, is not a lot with the LOI gone. More wumming

I thought that GAA pod would never end.

Benchmark set for the most boring episode of 2025.

Nick and Mark are being comically generous/stupid about how braindead Amorim’s comments were. This guy is not going to last very long based on what we’ve seen so far. Ken gave him the kiss of death.
