Was closing the bedroom window the other night it was dark and raining when I noticed a small bird in the corner, so I gently caught him and took him into the house, it was a small Goldfinch shivering and looking very wet, I rubbed his head for a while which he seemed to enjoy as he relaxed and was not trying to flyaway. I put him into of all things the cats cage left him Sunflower seed and water and put him into the shed, the following morning I opened the door of the cage and no way would he fly out so I held him gave him a couples of head rubs opened my hand and he was off, lovely moment hope he survives.
