Does adding two people to the electricity bill double the tax credit cover, or has anyone had that confirmed?

That's good news. Our bill date isn't until the 23rd of June so we are still waiting. Payment should push us over €1000, which will be used to heat electric, next winter.

Do they have to be actively working or can one be retired and have not worked in Ireland? I worked abroad before returning home.

What does BWG stand for in this context? Googled it and couldn't see anything that fit and I didn't see a definition on the Flogas page.

Just wanted to check this isn't a plan only for people with some kind of electric heating system or something that has the acronym BWG, along the lines of the EV plans.

I didn't think that a food company fit the context though...care to explain?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,269 ✭✭✭con747

Explain? It's an offer for employees but anyone can avail of it by signing up online, you don't need to be a BWG employee. Just don't try sign up by phone because they might ask if you are an employee and refuse you the offer.

I seen the ifa deal mentioned for Bord gais occasionally too, 20% off Bord gais rates (used to have 180 Cashback too)

But you have to ring the ifa number not Bord gais so that's how they restrict it.

I still can't figure out if you're joking or serious lol because the website just says "BWG Exclusive Offer" - it doesn't say anything about employees....but yet it doesn't seem that funny of a joke?

Sure, why would it be a joke? BWG have negotiated with the energy supplier a preferred rate for their employees, you can sign up online and it doesn't ask you to verify if you are an employee (e.g. like asking for an employee ID or a specific offer code that only employees should know), so some people have found the rate good and signed up for it online.

If you sign up on the phone, the agent on the phone might specifically ask you 'Are you a BWG employee?" ... the online form doesn't.

I signed up online months ago without issue and am not an employee.

Same idea with health insurance. They are obliged to sell plans to the public that they offer large employers. They just bury them online so they aren't easily searchable.

My brother just switched to the day/night plan over the phone today.

They asked what his connection was with BWG and he just said he was an employee (he is not just to be clear).

Didnt ask for proof or anything.

It only took 4 months, told it was paid 3 times over email and when I called them it finally got processed. **** Electric Ireland! In the process of asking them to refund me I got several letters saying my direct debit was now setup (didn't sign any mandate) and also a letter to call them about my enquiry! I left them in October.

Thanks for this, signed up for it. Should reduce our forecast annual bill by 25%, so half way back to 2021 levels. However, in the short term over the next 2 month billing cycle, I'll be hit by 2 x €50 penalties from my current supplier and higher standing charges from Flogas, only partially offset by lower unit rates, so probably slightly in the red on this deal over that period. Savings will only really kick in from September, and by then I'd expect other energy companies to start reducing their tariffs too, but whether it'll amount to 25% is another matter. It's only people switching energy companies that prompts others to enhance their offers. If I can get back to 2021 levels by taking another hit on penalties before the end of this contract, I'll do it again. On a marginal basis, the extra revenue from new sign ups will exceed their costs, (new supply contracts that Flogas writes), so I'm sure this is still very profitable business for them.

Just got my bill from SSE. There was a CEG Payment of €202.79. This is my first payment for my solar power that I've been exporting via a Smart meter since March 7th this year. My Smart meter shows over 1750 units exported. This would mean I was due over €420 in payments.

Anyone else get a payment from SSE that was for an unexpected amount?

Does anyone know the craic with getting payment for feed in from Electric Ireland without a smart meter? I'm assuming it's an estimated amount.

NC6 form must of been submitted to ESBN to get FIT. secondly for 99.999% of people will only get deemed (not really estimated as it based on calculation using inverter size) if you have a day/night meter. As these can not yet be replaced with an equivalent smart meter that is why those meters get deemed amount. 24 hour meters can be replaced hence the idea is if you want FIT you should request an early switch? (then again I don't know how easy or not that is depending on where you live!)

Possibly there are some cases where people on standard 24 hr meter have managed this - but seems to be very much rare exception

Supporting what you said, CRU confirmed to me by email that 24 hr meters are not eligible for any form of FIT. That was when I went chasing it for myself.

Apologies if this has been asked already, but does anyone have a definitive answer on what happens to a customer with a non activated smart meter and FIT?

I believe they'll still receive the FIT even on a dumb plan, but do they get metered or deemed export?

Cool, I'm currently exporting more than expected, so it'll be nice to get metered when they swap the D/N meters over to smart meters

Particularly last week when I was on holiday and sent 144kWh to the grid

Although I'll have to wait until the full years data is in, probably not good thinking to base it off May and June 😅

We've had two CEG payments totalling 463.93

Dividing by .24c per kWh represents 1933kWh exported. However, we have exported over 3000kWh so we are short by ~240.

However, I think SSE pay out in May and again sometime in the autumn/winter so although paid out in June I think the payment is only up until May. We have exported 1000KWh since then so maybe that's where the discrepancy lies.

A message to SSE's Twitter Help account @SSEAirHelp has been sent, asking for clarification. More reliable than sitting on the phone all day, waiting for them to pick up.

Pleasantly surprised to get a cheque from SSE Airtricity in the post this morning for the outstanding amount owed for CEG/FIT after I left them.

I got a payment from them in February, moved mid-May and expected to have to chase them in a few months looking for a balance.

Arrears on FIT from Elec Irl.

I have solar PV installed since Dec. '22. My first FIT payment (deemed basis) was in recent bill, but only covered 63days, 28/03 to 29/05.

When can I expect to get arrears for the previous 4 months?

I also got a cheque for the balance for exported units from SSE today. Left them last October. They must be re-reviewing their original payments as I received the first cheque back in February and was unaware of an underpayment.
