Importing from eircom to gmail

Not being at all technical - I managed somehow to import all my emails from my eircom account inbox to my gmail account. However, I thought it would import my contacts to. When I went back to my sitcom email, my contacts were not there - they don't seem to be in gmail either, or is it just that I can't locate them in gmail? Also, how do I ensure that any future emails sent to my sitcom account are automatically forwarded to my gmail account?

    Check on Google Contacts

Thanks, Biko. I did check in google contacts and I have only 10 contacts - the ones I had sent emails to previously on my gmail account. None of the 350 or so contacts from my eircom account are there.

It won't import contacts, you'd have to move them yourself. And I don't think there's any way to export from Eir, so you'd have to do it manually. However, your contacts should still be on your Eir email, there's no part of the migration that would delete them.

To forward mail: In Eir, go to "Preferences => Mail => Receiving messages" and put your new email under "Forward a copy to". Note that this will only work up until Eir switch your account off, after that point emails will not be delivered. Eir "should" send non-delivery messages back to the sender, but, well... it's Eir, so I wouldn't rely on it.

Thanks!! That's a really clear explanation of how to forward emails from eir webmail.
