I remember the trolley being wheeled into the classroom to watch Bouli so vividly!!

Can't find the theme tune but found this quiz to test your knowledge of the lyrics! https://www.dailyedge.ie/bouli-lyrics-irish-3158959-Dec2016/

Racist thread. Where is the black snowman?

If you look hard enough you realise he had black skin.

Even worse - a snowman doing blackface. Ban this racist snowman immediately.

Too many of those and he’d resemble a marching orangeman

Was it just me who thought that Bouli was an Irish production?

I went off to find the theme tune, only to find Bouli speaking fluently in French.

There was always something so hypnotic about Bouli. I hadn't a clue what he was saying, but 6-y-o me was absolutely mesmerised. He put that pathetic freak, Bosco, in the ha'penny place. The dates are fuzzy in my mind, but I know for certain that by the time Bouli came along, Bosco was dead to me.

    Edit:

Can anyone confirm that Bosco was aired at 14:30, and that Bouli came on at 15:00, but only in like 15-minute segments? Is that roughly correct?

You must have had multi-channels in your house.

If you relied entirely on RTE1 and Network 2 (I'm almost certain this pre-dates T na G, as it was), then you'd know exactly who Bouli is and all of his backstory tri mhean na Gaeilge.

I think something must have come up at the start that told you it was French. Perhaps you were too young to notice it?

I always thought Bouli was made by the same crowd who made ‘Tir na hOige’, that was called ‘Baby Folies’ on TCC.

‘Tir na hOige’ also had a cracking theme tune but only in Irish. The English version was pretty rubbish.

I always thought it was Irish too, but probably because back then I didn't understand the concept of dubbing, and the fact that the theme song was so damn good, how could it not be the original

And now that you mention it Emmet, I think something does show up alright at either the beginning or end credits

Now that you mention it, I do remember some kind of (TV5?) French notice, just before the opening credits. Thanks for pointing out what a dunce I was as a child.
