hey folks, I’ve installed the rte player 2.0 apk on firestick from many sources . Experiencing same issue with all - no programme will play when selected. Anybody know a fix or if a new version of app that has a fix?

having same issues. The play button does nothing. But can you check whether kids tv programmes work? I found that they do. I think the issue may be that this version of the app is not playing programmes that "need" to show ads.

some of the news & weather programs still work, even showing an ad. the rest nothing seems to load at all, recommend shows are there but no video reaches the player

Same here re RTE player. It's an absolute disaster. Works one day and not the next. I'm using the link that joujoujou provided a few pages back. It's amazing that the ads don't even play

Anyone having issues with the Virgin Media Player app or whatever it is called now? Over on the Virgin Media Television Thread people were saying that various versions of the VM app (including firestick version) required an update.

Some said that the update of the app had disappeared off the Amazon store and someone else said that the app was now working again perfectly on the firestick.

As things stand I've got version 5.3.45 of the VM app installed on a Firestick 4K. I'm not sure if this is the most up to date version (is the new version 6.0?) - I can't see a way to update further from the store. This app used to work fine, but now it won't play anything.

on the 4k max gen 2 - i have version 6.0.1 of virgin media play last updated september 5th - so u might get it yet

maybe this version needs the newer android version as it looks a bit more upto date it has the live link for the 4 channels

The option to update the app actually popped up earlier in the week and I don't think I did it at the time. It hasn't appeared since. Might do a hard reboot when I get home to see if that triggers the update option again.

updated the VM app and all good now. PQ looks good for the live channels.

Thanks, I was following this article. https://allaboutfirestick.com/rte-player-on-firestick/ I downloaded Downloader plus the apk which seemed to download Aptoide and whilst I could see RTE Player there, it didn't want play ball. I also used Downloader and paired to my phone to use the URLs mentioned. Eventually got it but I don't open it through Aptoide.

RTE Player itself opens ok. Was trying to play Rock Stein's Cornwall earlier and it seems to get stuck on pause and 00:00.

there were 3 adds thtere and it played for me . addblocking on vpns can stop video apps playing . force stop / clear cache also

Don't have a VPN. An animation for kids played without an issue. I tried Mad Men and a few other dramas, no luck.

The other issue I forgot to mention is the stick's screen is not full screen, only about three quarters. Dunno why when all other apps play full screen. I tried Calibrate Display and it didn't change anything.

Hi all, looking for advice as well.

I have a UK fire stick, as it's the only way we can get BBC.

Created an Amazon.co.uk email address

Logged into the fire stick with that, used Nordvpn on the fire stick itself.

Can't get BBC.

Also, can't login to my nowtv account either. It wants me to set up a British nowtv account. Same goes for my prime account.

Is there anyway I can use this fire stick to

A: watch BBC

B: watch my Irish nowtv & Amazon prime subscriptions?

Haven’t had a firestick in years but try switching on vpn only when about to use iPlayer. And off when finished. I use vpn unlimited (keep Solid) and can access bbc iplayer from ROI.
