A friend's external hard drive has died after 10 years - had all the holiday photos etc No other backup available.

No noises, no lights - just dead.

Using it in an USB caddy fried the caddy.

It's been declared officially dead by a local PC repair shop.

Does anyone have any first-hand experience of using a professional data recovery firm please ?

Cost, turn around times etc ...

    Much obliged !
