Anyone have it? There's a few watches for around that price available at the moment like amazfit GTS or GTR, Huawei Honor etc so difficult to pick between them as there's a number around 100-150 range

I have it and really like it as a good battery life.

But I have a Huawei phone as well and the Health app it works with is pretty limited

It's only been £199 briefly a couple of times in the last year according to its Keepa history. For example, last July, it was £143. For the last 3 months or so it's flirting with this price.

Would this be better than an Amazfit Verge? Some online reviews say the Verge is better. Has anyone here tried both?

Nice looking watch. I'm not a runner, swimmer or cyclist. Not a mad fitness fanatic but walk quite regularly... I like the call /message notification feature and the workout tracker, sleep tracker etc. Would a smartwatch like that be overkill for me??

to be honest the honor band 5 would probably do a decent job for you.

    great smartband

very good sleep-tracking (same as watch), call and message notifications but less space to see them obviously, workout modes, heart rate and blood oxygen sensors, steps etc. I find the Huawei health app decent enough.

    https://www.hihonor.com/global/blog/a-quick-start-guide-to-exercising-with-your-honor-band-5/#:~:text=The%20HONOR%20Band%205%20helps,%2C%20rower%2C%20and%20free%20training.

if you want to add GPS built-in to that (for map viewing after without bringing phone, current gps pace etc) then the huawei band 4 pro is the job

Cheers. I can get the Honor magicwatch 2 for €110.... Seems a good price and I like the look of it. Might take a punt on it.

make sure that it's the bigger sized model - 46mm

the smaller one does not have the full feature set.

Yeh, it's the 46mm. Is it worth it for a non fitness fanatic like me? I like the look of it as I don't like the rectangular shape of the other smartwatches. And I'd use some of the features. But I might have a look around online to see if there's anything else of good value.

Have offer accepted on adverts.ie for one.

I have one, given "free" with Huawei phones at that time so I would not look at the original RRP tbh.

Is it worth 199? Hell no.

Does it work. Yes it does.

No strava as some mentioned, if you are a casual cycler you can still get a lot of data on the health app.

Running, jogging etc I found it great. Any other excercise is OK, too. Bpm monitoring is working well. I actually found it great for cycling stats, too, but if strava is your thing you might feel dissapointed.

The sleep monitoring is cool and I found it interesting to see the stats over weeks.

It isn't android, so no extra apps or anything.

Well made and I would price it closer to 99 these days. 99 would be OK price in my humble opinion.

the main features above something like the original watch mentioned here would be the music storage capability.

but it does not have full app install support and google assistant integration like something like android wear os watches

but with those watches you have to recharge them every day like a phone

Yeh, I like the music storage capability. Saves carrying phone around. Is there anything better around the €100 mark?

Forgot to ask, will a Spotify playlist work on the Honor magicwatch 2?

I paid €150 for the GT2 a couple of months back and it's a fantastic watch, the battery life is savage.

    Pros:
    Answer calls.
    Read texts and WhatsApp.
    Compass.
    GPS.
    Blood pressure monitoring.
    Stress monitoring.
    Find phone.
    Flashlight.

    Cons:
    No NFC.
    Limited apps.
No Spotify ECT. (Can add music but it's not the same)

Find phone is actually really handy

Wouldn't pay more then 100 for the GT1

    no. it won't.

it doesn't support apps like android wear os (which is effectively an android OS on the watch itself)

    you can only transfer mp3s

see here for the gt2 (same watch as magicwatch 2 except for some visual differences) so same method

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YFEirlAvYo

OK. So I'm guessing smartwatches that run android wear are way more expensive?

well there was a deal on a fossil sport gen 4 there a while ago as they wear clearing them out for about 70 euro (gone now) but you can get them on adverts or done deal

gen 5 watches are about 220 or so

but again battery life is poor so you have to charge every day so know that going in. can be a bit laggy also

also bit of a hack to get spotify offline on it

Samsung galaxy active 2 is probably the cleanest option with proper spotiify support- over 200 euro. battery life a bit better on the samsungs also

No. Huawei decided to go other way and have their own os.

Didn't work well for them tbh.

I got my first Huawei smart watch 3 weeks ag (as a gift for someone), Honor Band 5. I cannot get the apps to download that are needed to activate the watch....either on to my Samsung phone or to a laptop or a tablet. The apps won't all download.
So I'l left with a watch I cannot pair.

So I'd advise any new Huawei smart watch owners to look into that first

have had no problem with the Huawei Health watch app on android

not sure why it won't work for you

basically the android wear os lets you install android wear os apps - they can do lots of different things...
also you can use google assistant by voice on the watch directly to do stuff
different brands make them -> fossil, ticwatch etc

samsung uses its own OS Tizen that also has apps but not as many as wear os
it also has its own assistant called Bixby but it's not as good as google
but the battery life is better

the Huawei GT watches etc don't have downloadable apps - what you get with the watch is it. likewise for Xiaomi/ Huami watches

I don't care for Apple but their smart-watch implementation is the best at the moment but you can only use them with apple phones

I had problems downloading the health app myself, was something to do it latest version I think but I found a thread on reddit that linked and APK download and that enabled me to pair watch with phone.
