Whatsapp message backup?

    I back up my Whatsapp chats to my Google account. Yesterday I reinstalled the app on my new phone & restored my chats to my new phone. However, I got a new Whatsapp message yesterday old phone , which isnt included in my chats on my new phone.
    Can anyone help me out??

    I didn't think you could have the same account active on 2 devices other than using WhatsApp web. Did you switch your number to the new phone? Was there any issues in doing so?

    I only had to port my number to new SIM card & backed up my chats to Google Drive. I no longer use the old phone.
    Every other message is there except the most recent one I recieved before I reinstalled the app on my new device.
    Everything else is all present & correct.

    Sounds like this happened:
    1. Backup was taken
    2. Message received on old phone
    3. Whatsapp installed and activated on new phone
    4. Backup restored
    If that's the case, the only way to "recover" the message would be to activate Whatsapp on the old phone again, take a new backup, then activate and restore on new phone. But then you'd lose all messages received on the new phone since
