We have had the greatest songs of the 80s and 90s and the greatest music act of the 80s, it's only fitting I complete the series with the greatest music act of the 90s

Please PM me 10 music acts.

Acts can of course be solo acts or groups.
The act must have released at least one studio album during the 90s in US, UK, and/or Ire
I will run this after we get enough entries and when the other contests on this forum are completed

    Nominations sent.

i went for 3 obscure selections - artists that wouldn't be very well known but for each of them I would have at least 2 albums in a top-100 albums of the 90's list.

Hope this doesn't turn in a Blur vs Oasis battle. . .

If previous competitions are anything to go by, you'll have a lot of "big name heavyweights" going up against each other in the early rounds resulting in some great artists/songs being eliminated early on while some lesser known/lesser quality artist or song strolls through round after round through sheer apathy (mainly due to the match up its in) and ends up winning the thing.

So, what I'm saying is, never bet the favourite! :D

Yep, will kick off on Monday, have almost 100 acts nominated, if we get no more I will add my wildcards to make 128.

In fact, if anyone who has already nominated would like to PM me another 5 each, feel free.

We all know Nirvana, Blur, Oasis or Radiohead are going to win so maybe we should just skip to the semi-finals. It's like men's tennis.

I will be voting against 2 of these 4 in all rounds. . .

Hahaha, it's actually Oasis and Radiohead.

Oasis is one of these bands that I absolutely hate.
Radiohead I liked them a bit when they turned more electronic in the 00s, but I didn't like them in the 90s - and I find Thom Yorke's voice really annoying in their rockier stuff.

You mean when they became less good? :D

90s Radiohead for me was their absolute peak, I've struggled with a lot of the electronic stuff since, although some of it is very good and is usually amazing live.

You're both wrong and you're both right.
Their 90s stuff is amazing, and their later stuff is amazing ;)

Radiohead do have a reputation as being a bit depressing, admittedly I wouldn't be hugely into them mind.

I dunno what I even entered into this actually, my taste in music today as opposed to the 90s has hugely changed

    Probably entered Boyzone :pac:

Careful now! A certain baldy bonced female singer was popular in the 90s you know. Turnabout is fair play ;)

People who think Radiohead are depressing are those who know them only from father Ted.

There's not a better band of the last 30 years. Though there are definitely bands I prefer

now, not the greatest 80's act of the 90's but her debut album was really good

    hahahaha!!
Was just looking my list of nominations and I haven't nominated her.
I guess her 90's output (with the exception of I Do Not want What I Haven't Got) wasn't particularly exceptional, so I gave her a miss. . .
