That is great! I am so delighted your scan went well.

We have ours at the end of the month and it is just not coming quick enough. Will be 9 weeks the day of the scan (I think).

Hope you are all keeping well.

Unfortunately our private scan did not turn out as we had hoped. No heartbeat could be found :( The baby was measuring only a couple of days behind at 7w5d so we guess it must have happened recently. We are absolutely gutted. The sonographer sent a referral to the early pregnancy unit at the coombe so I really hope they call with an appointment soon so we can get another scan and find out what will happen next. I still have all of my pregnancy symptoms and no cramping or bleeding as yet so feels really weird to be just waiting around knowing what the outcome will be :(

I really hope everyone here as a happy and healthy pregnancy going forward.

How is everyone doing this week? I finally think I could be through the worst of the nausea. 2 days in a row now where I have just felt nauseous on and off instead of the relentless 24 hours!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 178 ✭✭justwhatithink

Good to hear your nausea has improved Frankie19, we have the same due date more or less. The nausea has improved for me the last few weeks but its still there lurking in the background all the time, cant eat anything flavorsome so its all bland foods for now and small portions.

Hows your tiredness? I am absolutely exhausted and could sleep all day and all night, I suspect my iron might be low as Ive light-headedness on and off a lot too but I cant remember at what stage the last time I went on the iron tablets for that. Have a GP check up Monday week so will ask then. Suspect I'm going to be in maternity clothes earlier this time too the way i'm looking............though over eating earlier in Covid may be more to blame for that lol.

During the day tiredness has subsided thankfully but come 9pm I’m straight for the bed absolutely wrecked.

I’ll be 9 weeks tomorrow (I think) and still have to ring the doctor- don’t know why I am putting it off!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 249 ✭✭Frankie19

Yeah delighted its easing as it was really getting me down. Can pretty much eat everything again so I'm trying to eat fruit and salads to make up for the past few weeks of eating bread and pretzels! Still need to male sure I don't let myself get hungry as that's when it sets in.

I havent been too bad on the tiredness front. Although I have been having cheeky naps when my daughter does. So glad I'm not in the office and commuting as it would have been so much harder.

We had a private scan on Saturday, could see the heart beating so fast. All looks good so far. I've my first hospital appointment next Monday. I'm totally exhausted, all day until between 9-10 at night then I'm wrecked again. No nausea though yet which is the only saving grace!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 249 ✭✭Frankie19

That's great news new farmers wife!

I spoke too soon on the nausea. Had an awful weekend of it. Feel better today but expecting it to show up at any time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 178 ✭✭justwhatithink

Great news New Farmers Wife, hopefully the tiredness will improve soon for us all.

You have all my sympathies Frankie19, it's really horrible.
I suffered all day yesterday myself and eventually was just really sick. Actually feel a bit better today than I usually do on week days. At least on weekend if I can get out of the house for a good few hours it distracts me and I dont suffer as much...just didbt have the energy yesterday to go anywhere after a busy Saturday. I dont know how women who get Hyperemesis cope at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 249 ✭✭Frankie19

Its just awful isn't it. Hopefully it sill subside for us all soon. I know...I have no idea how some women cope with it all through pregnancy ! I feel bad for moaning when I know there are women out there who have it much worse.

I'm so sorry to read that. I had the same thing happen me in March. I hope that you get called soon.

I had an early scan today after my miscarriage in March. Measuring a little behind according to period dates but I was tracking ovulation so right on time from that. Everything thankfully looks good so far. Apart from tiredness and feeling full, I have no other signs at all. No nausea at all so far. Hope you're all feeling well! Cannot wait until my next appointment though it's not until 20th July. Feels like it's ages away!

Are any of you getting the harmony test done? As I'm in my late thirties I think I'm going to.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 249 ✭✭Frankie19

My friend got the harmony test done on her last child as she was early 40s and had suffered a few miscarriages. She also found the sex out from it.

Its expensive but does give you piece of mind. I think you get it done at 10 weeks.

Had the doctor this morning so all confirmed. Faintly heard the heartbeat on the doppler so here’s hoping all goes smoothly

That's great Mammytobe! Relief I'm sure!

Hope everyone is doing ok. I am having lots of pinching sensations last few days. Nausea still not great but its definitely better than a week ago!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 273 ✭✭New farmers wife

I've my first antenatal appointment at the hospital tomorrow, midwife rang Friday and went through all the questions that are normally done on the day so as to cut down on time spent at the hospital so I'm hoping the usual 2-3 hour wait is considerably reduced.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 178 ✭✭justwhatithink

Still nauseous here and exhausted, dont feel like I'm making any progress with symptoms. Also, please tell me someone else here is starting to show...? I've got a bit of a bump already, at 11 weeks, and starting to panic theres more than one baba in there!!!

Definitely starting to show here too. Stomach is pretty hard and I cant sleep on my stomach anymore.

Nausea still not great just as I think it improves it comes back even worse a few days later. Really getting me down as I just feel miserable all the time and struggling to work this week. Its meant to be getting better by now :-(

Ok that gives me some comfort youre showing a bit too :p

I know how you feel with the nausea, you'd get very fed up feeling so crap and miserable and its very hard to focus on work and get stuff done. And you cant even enjoy anything at the moment; the hot sunny days kills me, cant have any nice meals with much flavor or it makes me sick, no drink etc. :D. Nausea is definitely in my Top 3 worst parts of pregnancy and my last pregnancy was really rough for various reasons.

I was at my GP yesterday (for a check up related to other stuff) and she was very sympathetic but was just like, stick it out, im sure it'll go in a few weeks :pac:

If someone said I could go to bed for a week I think i would actually sleep every minute of it.

Yep I'm surprised I'm showing as I wasn't skinny to start with. Although it is my second so maybe that has something to do with it.

I'm back with my consultant next week so will have a chat with her if it still hasn't improved by then.

I had my first antenatal appointment Monday, everything looks good, they were a bit surprised I was called so early but they ploughed on anyway, I get to go back in 5 weeks and have another scan and they'll do all the measurements then. Baby was perfect, arms and legs were tiny but we could see movement.
I remember the nausea on my last pregnancy, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. I went from nausea to heartburn but o was able to get a prescription for the heartburn. I think I was nearly 20 weeks before the tiredness went the last time.

Hi everyone, hope you are all feeling well!

I have a question on semi-private care. Do I actually need to see my GP at all? Or will I get everything I need from the hospital? I haven't seen GP yet as I couldn't get an appointment when I fist found out I was pregnant. I've had 2 ultra sounds so far and everything is progressing fine.

Is it necessary to also see GP?

You can self refer to the hospital of your choice . No need for a GP to do it. I haven't seen a GP and 11 weeks today. I self referred to the Rotunda through their website and they contacted me directly.

Thanks Frankie19! I self-referred too but I wasn't sure if I still had to see GP for some other reason :-)

@SaraJan & Frankie19: Do you need to see the GP to get the Combined Care form signed and submitted? I dont know if thats the norm for every semi-private clinic, but I did mine a month ago when i was in with the GP.

I didn't get the form signed by GP, just filled it out and submitted it myself! Seems all OK though, because I've received 3 appointment dates.

I don't think you do combined care with semi private and private care.

I went public first time and yes GP needed to fill out form to ensure I got the free maternity care but as I'm private this time I don't think I will see a GP just my consultant. In the rotunda next week so will double check.
