Initial Dieting Advice

    Hello all,

I suffer from stress related issues and it has always affected my eating. I wanted to start a class/weight watchers etc as I think "going to something" could help me a lot i.e. to learn how to cook, stick to a routine etc.

If anything the last few weeks in isolation have taught me is that I have no concept of portion control, I don't know how much to cook for 1 person to eat. I always seem to cook way too much food and end up eating it.

I know this sounds silly but I have never *really* cooked either as my work provides meals for me (obvs not in COVID-19 times) so I really have have no idea.

Question: Is there anything simple that can help me start off? a simple app? I literally have no idea where to begin.

    Thanks,

    K

Have never used it, but I've heard the RP Diet app is good.

I after years of failing finally had success on WW, something finally clicked. Start by weighing your food. Don't completely cut yourself off and go cold turkey. WW is now online as far as I know. People highly recommend slimming world these days and believe they have good recipes.

Download the BBC app and they have a fantastic food database, filter by easy and healthy and that would be a good start. Also my fitness Pal you can log your food, same on Fitbit. It is an excellent way to see how you are using up your calories throughout the day.

Just some ideas. All the very best.

I highly recommend My Fitness Pal. You can scan the barcode of your food packets to upload the calorie count. You will need to weigh your food, especially in the first few days, just to see the portion size. After a day or so of scanning and weighing foods you will quickly see where your portion sizes are too big, or snacks are adding up.
There is a my fitness pal forum which is friendly if you want a diet buddy or have questions.
