    Ok folks,

Let's get going with out first Slammie, and for the first time in a few years this was multiple choice...

The Performance Centre Up and Comer

Ivan Microscopic Teller, NITRO95 and Hammer of the Clods all newcomers to the Draft this year. Well done folks and thank you for joining...

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

    In Third Place

    NITRO95!!!!

    In Second Place...

    Hammer of the Clods!

And taking home the first Slammie, with a huge 75% of the vote

2020's Performance Centre Up and Comer....

Well done 2d..... Glanevin will never be the same again....

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

So this vote was split all over the place and that is indeed reflected in the results.

In Third Place we have a SIX WAY tie!!

Bobby Heenan in tears (MNG)/MJF Ruins Mark Wahlberg's career (beaker)/Ventura's opening (Hello 2D)/Tanahashi calls Cena 'bad guy' (BH)/William Regal in general (TSC)/Trump/Backland antics (BH)

Some interesting choices there. All garnered top spot from various voters so share third place.

    In Second Place

    Obama/Trump antics (BH)

Bounty Hunter doing comedy quite well here with three seperate entries here.

But not quite good enough. And it is actually fitting that the winner of this Slammy actually has the star after which it was named.

    It can only be -

Our 2020 LOL Moment of the Year

Santina gives CM Punk mouth to mouth (JP Liz V1)

Congrats Liz, your write-up garnered 16 points from the votes for this moment.

Next up another very varied category.

    It can only be our

Indie Talent Spotter Award (Under-Rated Draft Pick of the Year)

So no Third Place here... you will see why now in a second.

In Joint 2nd Place it is an 8 way tie

    Goldust (BH)/The OC (TBC)/Orange Cassidy (Lord)/Yokozuna (BH)/Honky Tonk Man (MNG)/The Brothers Funk (Hammer of the Clods)/William Regal (Lord)/Barry Windham(BH)

Lord and BH have multiple inclusions whilst thebostoncrab and Hammer of the Clods also get a mention.

    And in first place....

    The 2020 Indie Talent Spotter

    Tessa Blanchard (Necro)

    Errr... it's me :pac:

This was rather frustrating to watch the votes in, so many people getting top slot but only Tessa featured more than once, which gave me a sneaky Slammy.

Next up and now we're talking big leagues:

It's our Professional Talent Spotter (Draft Pick of the Year

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

    In Joint Third Place:

Oh wow look at that, it's another tie :D

Bobby Fish (beaker)/Gorilla Monsoon & Bruno Sammartino (2D)/Hiroshi Tanahashi (BH)/Jorge Masvidal (ShagNastii)/Money Inc (Necro)

beakerjoe, Hello 2D, BH, ShagNastii and myself all share the bronze medal.

    In Second Place:

    Andre The Giant (Necro)

Andre literally skipped ahead of the rest with the final votes, thanks for those folks.

But of course while I'm taking home the Indie Talent Spotter, can I take the Pro one home?

    tenor.gif

    No chance, that's what I've got ;)

Our 2020 Professional Talent Spotter is....

    Cody Rhodes & Goldust (BH)

Bounty Hunter collects his first Slammy of the year with a fabulous pick that garnered 11 points in total, pushing him head and shoulders above the rest.

Congrats 2D, Liz & Necro, Some very deserved winners so far (voted for 2 of them to take home the slammies myself). Could be interesting to see who wins the other draft pick award as I wasn't too sure how to differentiate between best pick and underated in some cases.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,801 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Congrats Necro, you sure made the most of Chelsea Grren and Tessa

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Let's have another shall we :)

The Authority (Faction of the Year)

This is a new category this year and by Jove there are a lot of options to pick from.

  • Posts: 13,688 ✭✭✭✭ Ivan Microscopic Teller

I definitely have to give my portion of that bronze to (the very generous) Bounty Hunter haha.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 89,029 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

CM Punk refuses to accept the award and is distancing himself from both LWE and Santina

Santina is very happy to accept and has a dance and speech prepared with a stunning outfit from Donatella Versace

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,801 ✭✭✭✭beakerjoe

Congrats BH. A truly deserving winner getting the best out of both picks , as well as their daddy

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

It's only fair I name them all:

    In Joint Seventh Place:

The Hunters (Brad)/The New Day (daithi)

    In 6th Place:

    The Four Horsemen (beaker)

Now while beaker only places 6th, he's rather unlucky. He featured more than some of the higher ranked factions but unfortunately was only picking up 1 point instead of the maximum on offer.

    In 5th Place:

    Gods of Power (PTH)

Good showing for PTH who gathered up a total of 8 points for his efforts.
No 4th place, that can only mean one thing - a TIE for Third Place:

Bullet Club (TBC)/Vince & Co (BH)

Both TBC's and BH's factions garnered 10 points apiece, meaning they couldn't be seperated.

    In Second Place.....

    Beer Money Inc (Necro)

Another runner up award for me, 14 points for DiBiase and IRS uniting with Roode and Storm.

    In FIRST PLACE

And the 2020 Authority Award goes to - with a MONSTROUS 29 points

    Heenan Family (MNG)

Mr.Nice Guy takes home his first Slammy now with a huge vote for his Heenan family. Fully deserved too imo.

    B4WWfkwIYAEvr4x.png

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Next up and while we're talking factions, let's switch to our next award:

The Wrestling Observer Feud of the Year

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

I definitely have to give my portion of that bronze to (the very generous) Bounty Hunter haha.

tbh I had that pick in mind for myself earlier in the game and once that had changed and I drew you you in the pick for someone else round it just seemed to good a pick to pass up, especially with you "hinting" you wanted Monsoon
    beakerjoe wrote: »

Actually meant to respond to a comment you made about Maybe McMahon being too much character for Tanahashi going forward but tbh after sending the fans home happy at the PPV I think Cena would go full heel and with McMahons help take the belt off him and long term it wouldn't be Hiroshi going up against then it'd instead be the Rhodes family with either Cody or Dusty going for the belt.

and Congrats MNG... a well deserved slammy win there in a category I gotta admit a few options slipped my mind (I voted for the Gods of Power no.1) but a Heenan family is always great for a story running throughout a ppv....
and sure you can't bayte someone with the initials BH ;)

I have to thank ShagNastii for letting me use Santino Marella

Ok. First - a few that were voted on but didn't feature on the podium:

Randy Orton VS Randy Savage (Brad)
    Taker VS Matt Hardy (Lord)
    Edge VS Christian (PTH)
    KENTA VS Liger (TBC)
Luger & Trump VS Dusty Rhodes (BH)
Jeff Hardy VS Ted DiBiase (Necro)
Jay White VS Finn Balor (Brad)

    Now to our vote grabbers:

    In FIFTH PLACE

    Batista VS Ronda Rousey (beaker)

    In Fourth Place

Brock Lesnar VS Andre The Giant (Necro)

    In Third Place

Hulk Hogan VS Roman Reigns/Heenan Family (MNG)

Points starting to ramp up now, MNG got 14 points for his main event feud.

    In Second Place:

Cody Rhodes VS Vince McMahon (BH)

Rhodes VS McMahon pulls 18 points, very popular indeed.

    But not popular enough.

    In FIRST PLACE

And our 2020 Wrestling Observer Feud of the Year - polling with a huge 30 points....

Adam Cole VS Ric Flair (beaker)

Beaker's depiction of the Cole/Flair rivalry certainly captured the hearts and minds and it's a very deserving Slammy. Congrats beaker!

    B4WWfkwIYAEvr4x.png

Cody v Cena sounds like the main feud to work towards going forward and I have no objections to full heel Cena.

Back to picks for the moment - and our celeb wing, it can only be the

Kevin Federline Award (Celebrity Pick of the Year)

A certain MMA star already polled in the normal picks... can they do the same in the celeb category?

Im truly humbled. Voted for Cody and Vince myself, a feud which IMO the best I had read. Cody v Vince was easy to imagine, thrilling, logical and down right entertaining.

    Thank you everyone

    beakerjoe wrote: »

I'd probably have Cody cementing his main event status by first facing Warrior after Warrior's involvement in Vince's defeating him. Meanwhile Dusty hot after his high profile win with Obama in his corner vs Lex/Trump could go for the main event in which Cena with Vinces help could lay a beat down on the son of the plumber giving Cody even more incentive to rise up and become the man to stop them.

That said I don't need to tell you about how I'd build a feud as you are now officially the champ of such activity. Voted for it myself but still Flair/Cole was really built perfectly and there could not have been a more deserving winner of that slammy.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

    Not quite. But still popular.

    In SIXTH PLACE

    Jorge Masvidal (Shagnastii)

    In FIFTH Place:

    Tyson Fury (Liz)

Liz was actually beaten out of joint 4th by a point, polling with 10 points.

    In FOURTH Place:

    Mark Wahlberg (beaker)

11 points went to Marky Mark in BCW.

No third place, instead we have

    JOINT SECOND PLACE:

    Donald Trump (BH)/Floyd Mayweather (Necro)

13 points to Floyd and Trump, real life heels indeed.

But the winner, by a single point, with a total of 14

And the 2020 Kevin Federline Award Winner....

    Arnold Schwarzenegger (brianregan)

brianregan09 picks up his first Slammy of the evening for his Arnie/Rock showdown, which again is imo thoroughly deserved.

    B4WWfkwIYAEvr4x.png

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

Didn't vote for him but Arnie being pitted against The Rock was money and tbh I don't know if any other Celeb was in such a high profile position so that is definitely a deserved winner by Brian.

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Next up and we go to Big Dave for

The Meltzer Seven Star Award (Match of the Year)

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

More matches here than you can shake a stick at but nonetheless in

    JOINT SEVENTH PLACE

WALTER VS Dyanamite King (beaker)/Mr Perfect VS Chris Benoit (BH)/Kurt Angle VS Minoru Suzuki (TBC)/Jeff Hardy VS Ted DiBiase (Necro)

beaker, myself, TBC, BH and Brad share the spoils, all of these matches garnered a top spot from a voter.

    In JOINT FIFTH PLACE:

Hulk Hogan VS Roman Reigns (MNG)/Kenny Omega VS Eddie Guerrero (brianregan)

MNG's and brian's main events poll well too. Getting to the money positions now though, let's pause and note some of the other submissions worthy of votes:

    Andre VS Lesnar (Necro)
Adam Cole VS Ric Flair 2 (beaker)
Adam Cole VS Ric Flair (preview show) (beaker)
    Goldberg VS Drew McIntyre (PTH)
KENTA VS Justin Thunder Liger (TBC)

    Moving on....

    In JOINT THIRD PLACE

Edge VS Christian (PTH)/Randy Orton VS Randy Savage (Brad)

8 points EACH for PTH and Brad for their matches.

    In SECOND PLACE

Cody Rhodes VS Vince McMahon (BH)

Cody and Vince tearing the house down to the tune of 10 points.

    And in FIRST PLACE

Our 2020 Meltzer Seven Star Award Winner, with three individual matches polling very well.... it HAS to be....

Hiroshi Tanahashi VS John Cena (BH)

Bounty Hunter picks up his second Slammy and Dave gives him the thumbs up!!!

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,933 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

Wow was not expecting that one, especially not after seeing what came second that said I think my no.1 pick was joint 7th

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

Ok this one was pretty close.

    In JOINT FOURTH:

PTH drafts Christian (PTH)/Brock Lesnar F-5's Andre The Giant (Necro)/RKO to Randy Savage (Brad)/Trump beats Obama (BH)/Vince leaps from the ladder (BH)

PTH, myself, Brad and BH times TWO manage to score well here.

    In JOINT 2ND:

Slaughter turns heel (MNG)/Britt Baker turns on Adam Cole (beaker)

beaker and MNG have to share the silver medal with some of their more shocking moments.

    But our winner....

And the 2020 Barbershop Window Moment with an impressive score of 11 points

Jay Switchblade White costs Finn Balor the title (Brad)

A first Slammy for Brad with his excellent ending to his PPV. Again thoroughly deserved imo.

Wow was not expecting that one, especially not after seeing what came second that said I think my no.1 pick was joint 7th

Cody and Vince got my vote for best match, esp the Vince leap from the ladder. Felt like an epic battle.

Next up before we move onto the heel, face and overall superstar categories:

What A Rush (Tag Team of the Year)

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

    In SEVENTH PLACE:

    Young Bucks (Brad)

    In JOINT FIFTH:

    Orange Cassidy & R-Truth (TSC)/Bobby Fish & Kyle O'Reilly (beaker)/APA (MNG)

    In FOURTH

    Usos(beaker)

A second tag team polling well for beaker here

    In THIRD PLACE

    Steiners (MNG)

    And a second for MNG!

    In SECOND PLACE:

    Brainbusters (Brad)

    But the overall winner,

The 2020 What A Rush Award goes to

    Billy & Chuck (Necro)

Me!! :D 18 votes received for Billy and Chuck which pushed them above Brad's Brainbusters who scored 11.

Thanks y'all! First time winning the Tag Team award too iirc.

Always happy to see someone I voted for getting a slammy and Billy & Chuck def stood out more than most

  • Moderators, Social & Fun Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 53,834 Mod ✭✭✭✭Necro

    In FIFTH PLACE

    Vince Mc Mahon (BH)

    In FOURTH PLACE

    KENTA (TBC)

TBC's evil KENTA just, and I mean just beaten out of the podium places by a single point.

    In THIRD PLACE

    Bobby Heenan (MNG)

10 points to Bobby Heenan who always does well in these.

    In SECOND Place:

    Roman Reigns (MNG)

MNG takes second and third, and his votes splitting may have cost him....

    In FIRST PLACE.

Actually it wouldn't have mattered. You could have combined Heenan and Reigns scores and given it to one or the other and they would still have lost by a two points.

Our Bad Guy of the Year.... with a total of 23 points....

    Ric Flair (beaker)

beakerjoe collects his second Slammy with some help from the Nature Boy!!

    WOOOOOOOO

The Cenation Award (Face of the Year)

    In THIRD PLACE:

    Adam Cole (beaker)

Adam Cole BABAY polled strongly, with 10 points here to take the bronze.

    In SECOND PLACE:

    Cody Rhodes (BH)

Cody again polling strongly for Bounty, 18 points this time out. A fine showing.

    But in FIRST PLACE

And the 2020 Cenation Award Winner.... with 25 points

    Jeff Hardy (Necro)

    IdleGoodAlbertosaurus-size_restricted.gif

A third slammy for myself and thanks to all the voters. I didn't expect this one admittedly but I guess Jeff going home champ won over enough voters :D
