Is there a way to complete the VHF licence online then doing the assessment in a centre somewhere?

Not that I know of, you could spend some time reading up on it and learning the phonetic alphabet in preparation for the test but there wont be much happening for the time being. https://www.inss.ie/latest-news/covid-19-course-updates-.2105.html

I was wondering this myself and I looked into it because I would like to get VHF qualified this year. There is an RYA online course alright - you can book it through various places such as here:

There are other places offering it as well. But from what I've read you must go and be assessed by an assessor in person before you will get issued as cert.

Perhaps INSS or similar would allow people to sit in on their assessments for a small charge? They are quite pro active in looking for feedback, I might drop them an email.

Be nice to know when they start again was trying to get on a course in Kerry last year for one and they spent ages saying Yes they were doing the course, they were doing it, they were doing it and then at the last moment they hadn't the numbers and decided not to bother.
