Can anyone recommend a good headset for gaming?

Prefer over ear headphones that can be used wirelessly and plugged in if they run out of juice?

    Budget of about €200

    TIA :)

    My current headset: https://www.logitechg.com/en-eu/products/gaming-audio/g935-wireless-7-1-surround-sound-lightsync-gaming-headset.981-000744.html

Does tend to dry out the battery quickly enough but charges up fast and comes with a nice long USB connecter.

Sound is terrific and as I have larger ears the size of the earpiece is ideal, they have a jack so can use them with my amp also.

Would avoid wireless headphones for gaming. The delay is oversight annoying.

I know there are a few tech heads here as I've seen a few of ye post about pc/laptop builds.
If I wanted to get a laptop with very specific specs (high performance, for editing 4K video) where would be a good place to get quotes? Got a pile of money to spend on video cameras and editing equipment but it has to be spent by year end, so mad scramble to get 3 quotes for everything to fulfil procurement rules.

For the tech heads, looking for 64gb RAM, Intel 7th gen or better, 1tbSSD, high performance graphics card - 4GB VRAM would be the main requirements.

Most gaming laptops will do what you need I use a MSI Gaming rig to edit on everything from 4K to Phone footage not a bother.

Da vinci resolve is a great Editing software works on windows, and its free everything else uses a subscription.

Maybe I'm just generally unaware but I've experienced no obvious delay or difference between wired and wireless headphones.

Think with video editing it more comes down to what software you're more comfortable with, final cut pro or Adobe premiere.

More bang for the buck to be gotten with the AMD processors, something like a Ryzen 5 5600x, AMD 6800 graphics card, b550 motherboard. Although the CPU and GPU are almost impossible to get your hands on atm a bit like the ps5/xbox series x.

Using Adobe but need a more powerful computer than the bog standard laptop I have.

Heard good things about Davinci but you know yourself, you go so far down the road learning one it would be a PITA going back and starting from scratch with another package. Have the full Adobe subscription through work so might as well use it :pac:

I see Disney have done a madness and commissioned 10 new Star Wars shows for their streaming service. Highlights include a new live action series of Ahsoka Tano, Lando Calrissian, a dark side show etc and a Rangers of the New Republic show. Hayden Christensen is returning as Darth Vader for the Obi Wan Kenobi series too.

Some of these series are standalone, but the rumour is the Ahsoka series and the Rangers of the New Reoublic show will culminate in an event series against a common enemy. Probably Thrawn. They're basically lifting from the Marvel Avengers playbook.

On the one hand the oversaturation of Star Wars content is a surefire way to kill off the IP. On the other I'm looking forward to certain shows like Ahsoka's. Disney will be sure to give it a huge budget.

Looks like the an Alien series is to be made by FX. Based on earth. In talks with Ridley Scott to direct the first episode.
I honestly have to say I am excited.

I was talking to a friend last night about a message i got from the Netfilx App on my phone about NINETY new series starting soon that I might like.

    90.

Given that and the HBO Max/Warner Brothers announcement, the subscription services model - which demonstrably works when run in a sober manner - must be close to imploding.

I'm not sure where the saturation point for netflix is. AFAIK it basically breaks even, but does use debt to fund some new content which it then books as assets. So arguably if you consider new content as having perishable value it's loss making.

That said, Netflix is making content for 140m people. Rte makes content for 4m people. So if RTE can make ten original shows per year, surely netflix can make 90. (a lot of them are crap, and some of them are good, but made with up and coming actors and producers, so probably cheap)

Yeah.. it wasn't 90 shows for a year. It was just "starting soon".

A number of them will be acquisitions ("New to Netflix"), and obviously they feel they have the market hostage, with lockdown limiting the usual socialising, so are really targeting the run up to Christmas. But it's still a mental number.

I'm very cautious about that. The first 2 Alien films were outstanding. The 3rd was flawed due to ridiculous levels of studio interference, but I could see what they were trying to do. The 4th should never, ever be spoken about. And Scotts change in direction on the last 2 has been one part interesting, one part disappointing and barely Alien related at all really. The need to explain stuff really bugs me. We didn't need an Alien backstory. Lets not consider the AVP thing at all....

It has been 34 years since the last Alien franchise release that was, at best, anything other than mixed to poor. Scott has had 2 bites of the cherry in that time and failed to deliver in terms of an Alien film (albeit some of the elements of Prometheus were good).

EDIT: Scott is only on board as an EP. So some of the above probably isn't too relevant. But still, there have been more hits than misses and a long time since the last hit.

If this follows the earth invasion story then it could be amazing or it could be another walking dead if they go cheap.

Ridley Scott has run out of ideas with Aliens to be honest - would rather he handed it over to someone else at this point.

With Hawley involved it has a chance at being decent. I think the earth storyline is a great way to go.

I've watched all of the first season of "Raised by Wolves".
As someone who considers "Aliens" one of the best sci-fi movies of all time, I found it to be pretty good!
I'm convinced they used the set from prometheus for a lot of it though.

Thought provoking plot based on atheism v religion, and blended in beautifully with amazing visuals and a brilliant cast.
    Ridley Scott executive producer.

I see Britain is sending a couple of gunboats to sort the 'fuzzywuzzys' out. (Dad's Army reference for us oldies)

    This will end badly.

It's not just that they're deploying naval ships to protect their waters (plenty of other countries do) it's more the optics, timing and rhetoric that will be received poorly by an already out of patience EU.

Populism isn't a successful form of government, it's a successful form of electioneering that historically will often need to drift to increasing extremes to maintain momentum and support. That's what we're seeing here and sadly the right wing media and even the BBC are all in.

Brexit is going to end in a damaging no deal or in a capitulation. They are the options at this point and Westminster will be considering those options purely in the context of maintaining their voting base through to the next election.

They are so far away from actual Governance they would make Putin blush.

This can only end badly for Boris... because they are no longer members of the EU...their fishing "entitlement" waters will not be recognised by other members... notably Ireland...if their gunboats come within 3 mile's of Donegal or Louth... then it's an act of aggression and will be very costly

Their gunboats already come within 3 miles of both. In fact, the UK claims fishing rights right up to the southern shore of Carlingford Lough.

Exactly....it's been overlooked before... plenty of local trawlermen have been north and seen it on quite a few occasions.... it can now be considered an act of war.. this will be the hill upon which Boris will perish I believe...unless he capitulates completely
