Does anyone know where I can order parellette bars for dips? Ideal from a Irish based store if possible D8 is down and mcsport don't have any. Not sure of anywhere else. Will order from abroad if needs be.

I saw a pair on Gymless the other day. Think they're still delivering...I got something after lockdown anyway

Those would be too short for dips.

Aldi were selling large ones last year, they could come up soon again once they all realise how in demand this stuff is now.

Put them on blocks. They're 12" so 4" blocks would be plenty. You'll get blocks sooner then you'd get taller parallettes in the short term I'd imagine.

Or you can try make up some with PVC pipe if that's easier to come by.

You need 20" for dips, more if you are taller.
Would be easier to make your own rather than buy an suitable product

If you want to do dips with your legs below you, then you need 20" clearance. But you can still so them with your legs in front of you with 12" bars.

Would be easier to make your own if you have access to what you need to make them. But most people don't have access.

So, if the OP needs them for dips, they can either wait for however long until they find taller ones/have access to a supplier to get pipes etc to make their own or get the shorter ones or go with the shorter ones and adapt.

Under normal circumstances, I'd possibly go with taller bars of the two though if it was just for dips, I'd find a DIY solution.

You are getting mixed up somewhere.
I wasn't talking about legs below you, that requires even more height.

Legs below you requires 900mm (36"). About the height of a kitchen counter or bike stand. Like this

Legs in front you need 450-500mm (20"), more if you are tall.
ie the distance from armpits to hips, otherwise you can't do full ROM without hitting the ground.
Example: This dude. Not full ROM. And those parallettes are higher than 12"

Would be easier to make your own if you have access to what you need to make them. But most people don't have access.
You can get the material in a hardware shop. No special tools needed.

If local hardware shops are closed, buy online might be an option.

I'm wondering if rings would be an option for the OP.

I am using mine in an attic hole like this

Not disagreeing that it's not an optimal solution.

My point was that (a) hardware options are not accessible at the moment and online options aren't great because I've been trying to get similar for something else (PVC pipe option is simple to put together) and (b) that in the absence of optimal solution, the OP can consider a sub-optimal solution such as raising the 12" bars. If it was me and just for dips, I'd probably use chairs.

Haha, didn't expect to give this level of discussion. Very interesting.

My main preference was for taller dip bars as I was planning on also using them for body rows and front levers.

The idea of making my own is interesting and probanly the quickest in terms of time. However I can barely tie my shoes laces so not sure how that would go.

On the mention of rings, that is what I will most likely do. I already have a pair but can't set them up at home but I will just head to the local park. I've lost a fair bit of strength so will need to do modified dips but it will be a good place to start at least.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Very useful as always.
