Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary confirmed a normal schedule of commercial flights won't return until June 17

We are scheduled to fly out on the 6th Jun and return on the 20th
At the moment there's nothing to say for definite our flight will be cancelled on the 6th so we are waiting until closer the time

Our accomodation has been cancelled as we didnt pay the balance as it was over 2k and didnt want to get in a situation of not being able to travel and having to try and re-arrange both accom & flights

Right now just hoping the flight gets cancelled and we get the flight refund as going in Jul/Aug doesnt work for us

I have flights booked to Italy for the 2nd of next month. Flight hasn't been cancelled officially but RA offered me a free rebooking up til the end of August. I will be waiting for the flight to cancel and seek a refund. I don't want a rebooking or a voucher.

We're supposed to fly outbound with aerlingus 24th June and home with Ryanair 8th July. Messy time to have travel plans. Don't exactly want to travel but won't get a refund if they're running flights :(

Why offer a free rebooking if not cancelled?

Any idea how close to the actual flight date are they announcing a cancellation?

I assume they are hoping people myself included will think we are only entitled to a rebooking instead of a full refund.

Ryanair told me about April 1st cancelation on March 20th, options then were refund or rebook.

Due to fly to lanzarote on 14th June from shannon and back on 24th
    Accomodation is free cancellation
Have no intention of flying this summer
Hope not to lose price of flights all the same and get a refund
Will rebook for same time next year if we do

ok good to know rough timelines

by the sound of it about a month before they offer the rebook option in the hope most people take it up, but at some point they have to offer the refund approx 10 days before

we're not planning on going on those dates anyway, so can wait until the last min and get the refund

They are separate flights according to Ryanair. In my experience (snow) if the return leg operates, they won't refund.

Has anybody got notification of a flight cancellation from Ryanair? I had flights booked for 17th May and was holding out for cancellation rather than a rebooking but the details have disappeared online, even when going in through the booking confirmation. They were there last week, as I checked to see the status. I've had no correspondence, definitely no refund, no response from @Ryanair either.

Already mentioned by someone here about cancellation notice approximately 10 days prior to flight so you might have to wait a while longer to get yours

Chances are you will get the rebooking email in the next week and will be up to you what direction you want to take

Plenty time yet not to be getting worried about it

Based on others experience on here I’m going to sit tight and see what happens

Chances are you will get some sort of email soon to rebook

Same thing has happened for me, two trips in May now disappeared. Can't see them at all on the web browser, they are visible in the app but can't go into the booking.

Expect we'll get a mail in the next few days

I have a flight booked to Berlin for 16 May. Ryanair has continued flying this route as they consider it an essential service, so it's not going to be cancelled. They emailed me last week offering a date change up to 31 August which doesn't suit as I'm working full time and don't have holidays from work until September.

this could be one of those flights where you could potentially lose your ticket price unless you can re-schedule

Do they fly daily? Is there a chance they are still flying there as an essential service but your flight might not be one of them if they are on a reduced schedule?
Maybe thats a way out for you to get a refund but would men you holding out til much closer to the flight date to see whats happening

I have two upcoming trips to Tenerife with Ryanair in September and December.

None were showing in my app until I re-entered and saved the flight details. Now the December flights are flagged as being cancelled, but the September one is still apparently okay.

Don't know what to make of it.

my flight not showing on the app, keeps crapping out

its showing online and saying its ready for check in

While RA may start to open up flights, remember that for the foreseeable future these flights may come with conditions, so if you fly into Spain or Italy you may have to go into Quarantine/isolation for 14 days upon arrival, so what form that takes i'm not sure, I can't see any hotels willing to accomodate people who are confined to their hotel rooms... not to mention those who book self-catering accommodation not being able to go outside or get food.

So for now i'd say any upcoming travel this summer probably should be cancelled and deferred until late this year or 2021..

I cant see airlines being able to fly if they cannot guarantee the 2m rule on the plane, in the airport, etc

I for one if I'm told I have to maintain a 2m distance out in fresh air would not be getting on a flight for 3-4hrs maybe with other passengers within 2m

I was flying to London 4th May. Got cancellation mail this morning. Choice of refund or rebook. I chose refund. Got form loaded no problem. Should have refund in next couple of weeks.

Yip, got mine this morn for May 1st flight. Can I proceed with the refund? As in they still doing them?

    Good to hear

Surprised they didn’t consider London an “essential “ route

Just check you are using the same format as used for original booking.
I am not very technical but i have found if a flight is booked using an email address we need to do the same to recover same.
The same applies if you book with Ryanair app, recover with same format.

I think I read somewhere that RA had put all their "payments" staff on furlough or work from home, so they are saying in order to process refunds they need to be in the office to proceed....CONVENIENT...!!!

I'd say good luck with that. I'd imagine you will be waiting minimum a month for the refund if not longer.

The airlines are getting away with murder at the moment. All seem to be trying to dodge refunds or drag them out as long as possible.

Any way to throw a poll up here that people can say if they have received their refunds yet. Would be interesting to see how many have so far.

It means they aren't cancelled just no longer available for purchase. They could be changing the flight schedule. Something similar happened during the pilot shortage. It's likely their will be alot less flights this winter.

Edit: They seem to be back up again. Maybe check your Ryanair profile again.

I applied for a refund on 24/03 for a flight on 10/04 that had been cancelled.

Got a couple of holding emails over the last few weeks that my refund was being processed, then tonight got an email with a travel voucher in lieu of refund.

I can refuse the voucher and request a cash refund, but...
You can request a cash refund however bear in mind we will place your request in the cash refund queue until the COVID-19 emergency has passed.

We highly recommend using the refund voucher as these are readily available and you can book flights on all Ryanair Group airlines in over 200 destinations in Europe and the Middle East.

Something has to be done about this. You applied for refund not a voucher. You should not have to apply a second time for a refund. Surely there is some kind of law about a timeframe to give refunds. Covid-19 can buy them a certain amount of time but surely not months and months.

I have flights with Jet2 in England. Initially got an e-mail from them to say that flights are cancelled and to bear with them that they will be in touch about my flight. A few weeks passed and checked online and only option was to re-book. They sent more e-mails saying to bear with them and they will make contact with me. Flight date has come and gone now, it's been about 5 weeks since first cancellation e-mail and I've still had no contact with from them about my refund.

I went onto live chat this morning to request the cash refund instead, stock responses it seems - and this wasn't the bot chat.
Ryanair: The refund will be processed one the pandemic is over, as we have a huge backlog regarding refunds. Do you still want to have a refund?
Me: what are the qualifiers for "pandemic is over". that seems vague and open ended.
Ryanair: Please note that as our payment agents are required to stay at home in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, payment security restrictions prevent us from processing cash refunds until the COVID-19 crisis has abated.
Me: that doesn't really answer the question. how will ryanair decide the pandemic is over?
Ryanair: We have a huge backlog, unfortunately.

    Chargeback time?

    Chargeback time?

when the pandemic is over will not be decided by RA, it will be decided by WHO

so they will stick to their guns in that sense

the comment "Ryanair: Please note that as our payment agents are required to stay at home in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, payment security restrictions prevent us from processing cash refunds until the COVID-19 crisis has abated" is a bit of a cop out imo

they could easily bring people in and maintain correct regulations for social distancing in order to start processing payments, even if its on a skeleton scale

when it comes to my turn, I plan to stick to my guns and hold out. I can afford to wait for the refund although I'd prefer to have €1300 in my account than theirs

I'm just glad i didnt pay the balance of €2500 for the accom when it was requested a month ago as I would now have 2 fights on my hand

This has nothing to do with staff working remotely or Covid abating.

Michael O'Leary wants you to give him an interest free loan!

Refund requests could and should be processed automatically within 24 hours like car hire companies do.

In the meantime Swords District court is your best bet.

How long did you have to wait for the chat?
    This seems like madness.

The website - chat support - like all Ryanair offerings - looks like a child made it. It is designed to frustrate and annoy. No way to tell if you are actually in a queue or not, no idea if they will actually connect... how is ANY of this actually legal.

Chargeback probably won't work, it is really for fraud, disputes and companies in liquidation.

The bankers are as reluctant to give you back your money as Ryanair!

Swords Small Claims Court is your best bet!

Yeah I was thinking as much and that was the answer I was looking for from them.

That could be a age away though, who nows (or WHO :pac:)

Revolut told me to wait until 27 working days after request of refund - the timeframes given by Ryanair, 20 days to process and 5-7 days for payment refund - and then I could open a chargeback

I've used a chargeback many times for goods/services not received. It's very straightforward.

About 20 mins. The chat system has changed recently, it used to tell you where you were in the queue and an approx waiting time - that's all gone.

It obviously depends on the bank.
    Hopefully you are right.

Maybe people can let us all know how each bank is handling it.
The responses I have seen so far is the banks expect you to go through the complaint process.

There is no doubt it is not legal.

The regulation is clear as day a requested cash refund must be processed within 7 days.

Ryanair with its 300 software engineers is well capable of automatically processing refunds in 7 days.

Here is the test if Ryanair was charged €100 for every requested refund not processed within 7 days ......

I can tell you it would be zero because Michael O'Leary would have them processed in 24 hours to be bloody sure no passenger ever got a €100
