Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore, singer Gavin James, and fitness instructor Joe Wicks will be joining Miriam O'Callaghan in studio on this week's Late Late show, as regular host Ryan Tubridy recovers from coronavirus.

On Friday, Michael Prendergast, a 28-year-old from Kerry who was hospitalised with Covid-19, will be speaking about his experience of contracting the virus and his subsequent recovery.

Sean Moynihan, CEO of ALONE, will be in studio to discuss the marked increase in calls to the service by concerned elderly members of the community who are living alone.

Gavin James acclaimed singer-songwriter and ambassador for ALONE, will perform a number of songs in studio, and viewers of 'The Late Late Show' will be invited to donate to help raise much needed funds for the charity.

Joe Wicks, the online fitness instructor whose workout sessions have been watched by millions in recent weeks, will talk about the importance of exercise, as well as his decision to donate ad revenue from his YouTube videos to the NHS.

LauraWhitmore, presenter of 'Love Island', will also be on tomorrow night's show, speaking from her home in London.

John Sheahan, beloved composer and musician with The Dubliners, will talk to Miriam about how he is managing and getting to grips with cocooning.

Country music singer Philomena Begley will also be interviewed about how she is coping in County Tyrone.

Speaking from home, Ryan Tubridy thanked viewers for their well wishes, along with commending Miriam and her team for "keeping the show on the road".

"I want to thank everyone for their good wishes over the past number of days. I am very grateful to be through this virus, and, to keep safe I will be adhering to best practice and not be returning to work until next week. I am acutely aware that other people are going through much more serious pain and I want to send them my warmest wishes at this difficult time. Miriam did a great job last Friday, as I'm sure she will tomorrow night, and I want to thank her and the team for keeping the show on the road."

The Late Late Show, RTÉ One, 9.35pm.

Is Laura still going to be riding the Caroline Flack/"be kind" wave and how they only give a sh!t if it's a celebrity

Does anyone know the details of this?

I heard he went to the UK for a party with his mother at a time when everyone knew you shouldn't be doing that sort of thing? I suppose now he wants sympathy and is off to the Late Late to get a nations worth of it.

Hopefully he is asked about the stupidity of his actions and how they have endangered others.

Or is he going to lecture us all on how important social distancing is now?

I like to think that one of the positive off-shoots from this whole ordeal when normal order is restored is that the "offended" and celeb cultures will take a back-seat.

Wishful thinking, the social media slaves in my house have tried to keep me informed of what the cardashians et al are all doing during this.

    So another Covid 19 special...

Gogglebox and Saturday Night Dinner for me.
If anyone wants another alternative there is Tiger King on Netflix.

Is he the lad who i heard being interviewed on the radio last week?
if so, he mentioned he had quite a history of previous medical conditions , so perhaps it wasnt overly surprising he was so sick

I think his mother was on Joe Duffy a while back, she was sick as well. Without wanting to cast them as the perpetrators of the virus, it appears their actions were selfish, unnecessary and detrimental to their health and others. I’m open to correction on this btw.

Presumably The late late won’t go into much detail on how they got infected, or why they decided to go to London for a piss up, it will be a piece about how great (and they are) the frontline people are and how the public needs to heed the warnings and information that is being given.

Question for Welsh Megaman, when you say these people will be "joining Miriam O'Callaghan in studio" tonight do you really mean "mostly having a chat on a dodgy skype stream from their homes recorded before the show starts" ? :pac:

    You mean from his shed.

This was a perfect opportunity to show old Late Late shows hosted by Gay Byrne but that would have shown up today's hosts for the amateurs that they are

Whenever is Thelma Mansfield going to her chance to present this thing? I've been watching RTE since the late 60s and I'm worried I'll die of the flucking virus before they give her the start.

Ryan can’t go into the shed till the previous person finishes their quarantine. This is why we’re trying to flatten the curve ain’t it. Not enough sheds.

No, I haven’t, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea. They survived a 25 hour round trip to PEK and back. Surviving a ten minute session on the Late Late would be a further testament to their powers of endurance.

They might do one of those audience/guest competitions. Complete the lyric......

    And I'm off.
i understand maybe for much older people this show may be a lifeline but another 2 hours of covid coverage is just too bloody much.
30 minutes at the start would do then 30 minutes with something genuinely entertaining.
Off to C4 and BBC iPlayer.

Because the prize money isn’t there until some mugs phone in and create the very pot that they distribute
