Monaghan is the only county without a recorded COVID-19 infection in Ireland. Even Leitrim (Leitrim!) has cases.

And I want to know why?

What is it that they are doing that the rest of us can learn from?

We’re just seriously hardy people, tough as nails!
As my wife rightly suggested though, there’s probably loads of people with it, but saying “this is a raw ol dose, be jaysus” and not doing much about it. We’d be a stubborn bunch like that.

Mr and Mr's Coronavirus and their 50 billion kids cross the border into Monaghan (driving a very large estate car)...........

Mr Corona: Have we done here already?

Mrs Corona: Not sure. Have we?

Mr Corona: The people seem very ruddy faced.

Mrs Corona: Yes, a bit flushed. Let me check my notes.

Mr Corona: They seem to be unable to breathe through their noses.

Mrs Corona: What's this place called again? It's not on the map.

    Kids: We're BORED!

Mr Corona: Christ this place is a tip. Let's turn around.

Its because people only leave Monagahan, no one goes back in.

Or stupid Dubs forgot that we are part of the Republic of Ireland again so aren't counting us in the cases.

Is this a good time to push for peace in the region between Cavan and Monaghan?

Should we appoint a mediator for the warring tribes?

I would doubt very much it's truly the case.

Just because there are no reported/confirmed cases doesn't mean they don't exist. As time goes on I'm sure the picture will change.

    Still virus free AFAIK

The virus is a zoonotic disease. It jumped from some other species to humans.

That does not necessarily mean that it can jump to all species. For example, from humans to Monaghan "people".

It's because we're next door to Cavan and there's no chance of them ever giving anything to us for free.

Silver is antibacterial. So at a guess, it's all that gold in the soil up there.

In fairness, the virus likely did a U-turn when it realised it wasn't infecting real people but instead it was in clones.....

    I'll get my coat.

Is the COO of the HSE, who is on de telly every 5mins talking about Covid 19, not from Monaghan?

The other lad who is also getting a lot of air time currently, Professor Sam McConkey, is from Clones afair.

As of April 25, figures show that there have been 626 Covid-19 cases in Cavan and 373 in Monaghan, this according to an RTE report.

County Cavan has the highest incidence rate of the coronavirus in the country per 100,000 of the population, followed by Dublin and Monaghan.
