Leaving food/supplies at neighbours door..

Looking for any links or proper guidance on this one for family members. I'm worried people aren't getting the risk here...for example there's plenty of well meaning people bringing items to a neighbours door without realizing the impact...

We had someone do this y'day, well meaning of course but we had to handle it in a sensitive way...once they drove off, using gloves, antibac wipes and disposal of packaging.

Could be the kindest thing to leave something for someone eldery or unwell but could be riddled with the virus.

Clarification! Not referring to the actual food! It's a kind thing to do, I am referring to the plastic bags and boxes :) take it easy folks, not about wasting food at all.

Both EFSA and USDA have stated that COVID-19 cannot be transmitted through food:

    https://www.efsa.europa.eu/en/news/coronavirus-no-evidence-food-source-or-transmission-route

    https://www.usda.gov/coronavirus

So let's not over react here or start more silly, stupid rumours...

What a waste of food and the nice gesture that went with it.

Wipe the food packaging with hand sanitiser/isopropyl alcohol.

Have you not read any of the information, pleading for neighbors etc to look out for one another, by all means take care with packaging but don't waste the food, if not for yourself then donate on to someone else.

Nope, maybe I wasn't clear, I'm not referring to the actual food..it's easy get guidance on that. It's the bag/box. Biko got what I meant. Same way deliveries are being handled, but looking for some info on that. I caught a bit of info on the RTE show morning Ireland so it is relevant, agencies who are doing it in an official capacity were asking people to go about these gestures very carefully.

    I'll edit my post.

Missed the point! I've edited. It's the time to show more kindness and make efforts esp with food.

Extreme caution around packaging, gloves/wash hands after , only brought home to me really yesterday when I bought a packed sandwich at a garage, on the way to the till I wondered who's and how many hands had toughed the pack.

That's what I'm just looking for any guidelines or info on to share with fam members. A lot of graphics doing the rounds of how long the virus lasts on surfaces ie cardboard, plastic etc so would love any official ones. Thank you!
