Should we be withdrawing from the apple tax case?

    There's €13 billion currently in escrow and possibly about half that amount again in penalties available for the country at the stroke of a pen. Given that Varadkar tonight spoke about piling even more debt upon future generations, to not draw down that money under threat from corporate interests is bordering on criminal.

    Not true. The tax just had to have been paid somewhere in the EU, which it wasn't. The money would go straight to the exchequer in Ireland.

    Ireland isn't the only party to the case. If we withdrew, then Apple would continue regardless.

    No. You are wrong. The fine is because it is claimed that they did not pay tax that was due all across Europe.
