Is boards.ie a gateway to the far right?

I've noticed recently on boards the amount of traction the far right has on here. Every week we're guaranteed to have a thread on migration, foreigners committing crime over here, the traveling community and a plethora of other similar topics.

Just recently a thread about known far right demagogue, Tommy Robinson has attracted plenty of sympathizers and supporters for a revolting man. I ask in summary, is boards a far right platform?

is boards a far right platform?

It's a platform for everyone, no matter what your views.
Homegrown racism is preferred over international racism though.

Classic. If anyone has an issue with foreigners committing crime or Travelers brawling in the streets or organizing sulky races on motorways, they're "far right"?

Well no but when it's all people talk about and with so much glee behind it, it does raise an eyebrow.

boards.ie is like any other social media platform - exploitable by those looking to exploit.

Since Trump values were elevated from the gutter to the White House boards.ie has been "infested" by the right wing. Both those who hitherto had keep their council, before becoming emboldened and a rash of new sign ups who were often so obviously troll-farm types they often got zapped pretty quickly (many re-regged a number of times no doubt).

No doubt word spreads among the like minded so they all pile in to give us the benefit of their bilous world view.

Oh FFS - Trump is no more properly Right Wing than Ernesto Guevera. And the buck-toothed, illiterati from Buttfuck, Idaho usually trotted out as his textbook "supporters" aren't either. :pac:

    Far right my arse.

Second you point out hundreds or millions died under communism/socialism or the Nazi's name of political party was the National Socialist German Workers' Party (facts) all the People before profit loola's on here (seems like 90% to be honest) jump on you here with lighting speed, they haven't even the gumption to ask the question who runs their parties which amazes me, OK it's hard to know to be honest they change their name like you change underwater pbp, solidarity, socialist workers party, solidarity alliance, rise etc etc etc. Well it's millionaires like Kieran Allen behind all this nonsense.
    How every socialist eh!.

Second you are even slightly questioning of the left nonsense they start bleeting racist like sheep.

If anything this whole forum is like a socialist circle jerk.

People with extreme political opinions tend to be extreme people with extremely unhappy lives, so they generate a lot of noise. I think most people can see what they are trying to do though; it’s incredibly transparent. That’s the other thing, they tend to be as thick as pigshït.

You know as much as I know that his rise has let out the dogs of hate - you know you're in bad company when the likes of Rodrigo Duterte and Jair Bolsonaro are citing you as an influence. Then you've got the MAGA cap wearing goons marching about the place, although that seems to have dried up unless the media have just stopped showing them.

As for boards being used, it is but to no great effect. The right wing in Ireland is still big enough to fill a small bus but nothing more.

I'll tell you about the "dogs of hate" - a couple of weeks ago I referred to the average SF supporter as a "buck-toothed, jug-eared pavee" on FB, in a brief conversation among personal friends of mine in th ecomments of a post, and some earnest, bearded, poetry-writing type instantly responded, to a complete stranger, "Fuck you, you racist prick!". I kid you not if any little bastard said that to me in real-life I'd roundhouse him into a wall. :pac::pac::pac:

Well you wouldn't have because in real life you are probably a man for judging the situation and walking away in one piece.

So basically you engaged in generalising inflammatory bollocks and someone responded In kind and you would have boxed him in real life and other people are hateful or something?

Is there a point in there somewhere lad?

It's great that our right wing nuts join us to post here. They get to show themselves out for the complete gobsh1tes that they are. And reasonable people who do not have such extreme unhappiness often just cba to take the time to argue with the idiots.

Kasturba Gandhi died aged 74 in the Aga Khan palace in Maharashtra. Gandhi was racist towards African blacks, though.

Nope. Boards is a place for sensible rational discussions. It is one of the few places in this liberal dictatorship that people with centerist or slightly right of center views (think UK conservative party or US Mainstream Republican party) can express their opinions without fear of being branded "WORSE THAN HITLER" by the Liberal junta who dominate the regular airwaves and media.

I would argue that the extreme antisocial individualism of travellers (and their so-called "rights" to behave thus) and the erosion of national identity through the trans-global movement of people as economically efficient units are both classic right wing phenomena.

+1 on this. I find it remarkable that in the exit poll after the general election just 1% of voters said immigration was an issue for them and they voted accordingly.

Thats the reality out there, only 1 in every 100 are bothered about it. But reading Boards you would think it is a lot more. Its a case of empty vessels making the most noise methinks.

Gateway to the far right? No, just a place where a few industrious reregs come to spew the bile they have soaked up in dark corners of the net.
