DVD drive not visible in File Explorer?

    Windows 10 x64

My DVD drive is not visible in Windows File Explorer.

It is working perfectly. I can burn DVDs using a third-party software that can see the DVD drive.

I can also see it in Device Manager.

If I delete it from Device Manager and reboot, it reappears in Device Manager, but not in File Explorer.

How can I make it visible in File Explorer?

    Many thanks.

    D.

See if its listed in Disk Management, right click >> Change Drive letter and paths... >> Add >> assign letter D (or any other available from drop down list)
Do not assign A, B - avoid issues in the future.

    Hi Smuggler,

    You're right.

It is listed in Disk M.

    So,...

    1. Right-Click> Change Drive Letter and Paths
    2. I'm prompted to use the letter H
    3. Click Add...
    4. A new window opens asking me to Mount in the following empty NTFS folder, and the option to Browse to a location.

This is where I'm clueless. Should I browse to some location?

(The option above this to Assign the following drive letter is greyed out.)

    ?

    Many thanks.

Nah..., drive has already letter H assigned
You can try "Change" instead "Add" - see if it makes difference(don't think it will).
Is this Win 10 on old hardware aka upgrade ?

Read this, is it applicable to your case?

    Thanks.

    Didn’t help.

At least it’s working. Driver is dated 2006!

    Hardware is all first rate.
