Roscommon are poor, we are in 2nd gear. Little more than an easing back into it.

1 wide at HT according to stats. Costelloe's last kick.

Is there a new rule for the pull back/down. Foul for penalty looked well outside the square

Actually is a new rule. Black card offence within the 20 metre line or the arc results in a penalty.

Yep. Anywhere inside the 20m line when a foul is committed and is considered a goal scoring opportunity, is a penalty now.

Edit. It actually includes inside the D also

GAA Congress voted to introduce the new rule on a trial basis. This sees any cynical foul which prevents a goal-scoring opportunity, within the 20m line or the 'D', get punished with a penalty and a 10-minute sin-bin for the perpetrator

Not sure what to make of this rule. Black card might be enough as punishment. Plus we could be crucified if Jonny Cooper had 'one of those days'.

Not a great peno there suited the keeper.

Games getting bit scrappy now has free flowing as first half.

Not just any foul, specifically a cynical foul.

Dublin have dropped off a bit unfortunately. That peno would of finished the game.

Only 4 point game and Roscommon a man down. Dublin a bit sloppy in possession but yeah they're no where near top gear.

I did. I corrected myself. Thought that was obvious. But sure not a big deal.

Fair enough, just thought you might not have realised. No worries.

Referee needs to get the cards out... Roscommon getting very ‘cynical’. Tiring.

Costello been great today apart from second peno hasn't put a foot wrong.

Agree. Going to be a lot of forwards going down as they feel the contact just like soccer

Really?? I thought he was taking the point, as a kinda concession that it shouldn't have been a penalty in the first place.

    Nah, just a poor penalty.

Dunno lads, he cleared the bar by a distance and a real lazy run up to it.

Actually Mick Galvin confirms afterwards that the second peno was ‘missed’.. not happy.

Jayus and my first impression was, he tapped it over cos the game was over anyway.

Always feel sorry for Costello in virtually any other Dublin era he would be THE main man. Freetaker, household name, etc.
Late 20's now and rarely seems to get the recognition.

He's a confidence player though. He's prone to having very off days where nothing will go right.

The big names for Dublin over the last few years have been more consistent.

He should have stuck to the hurling

All three penalties were poor, his goal chance he managed to blast off the keeper, he's inconsistent.

Ya i wasn't confident with any of those penalties soon as i seen how he took the first one. Hopefully he can have a proper go at things this season with Mannion out but its early days yet. He did finish last season in decent form though so hes carried it into this year so far so good.
