Was having trouble finding a plumber in the last couple of weeks - two no shows, one cancellation & two ghostings.

This morning got a flyer through the door - Bord Gais local heroes - localheroes.ie

Electricians, plumbers, gas fitters etc, all backed by Bord Gais. Great, guaranteed to get someone & the work will come with a warranty & pay through the website - they really should have an app, but that's another deal.

Entered details of the issue & got a quote back saying the work comes in at approx €65 - €85 inc parts (very small job). Seems fair, so I accept quote & it goes off to find a "Local Hero" to do the job.

Someone accepts it & about an hour later they contact me to say the work (based on the information I gave online) will cost €120 per hour with no parts.

    Be aware when using it.

Really thought you were bigging them up until the end

Yeah, was very disappointing. In theory, it should work great, vetted contractors, warranty by a big company, quotes up front. An app would make it perfect, where it fails is allowing the contractor to quote direct to the customer.

Needs an app & better control - Could be the Hailo (or whatever they call themselves these days) of tradesmen
