switching from electric ireland

Bills are very high recenly, wonder what the best path is to go? Ring them up and tell them i'm switching in the hope they offer a better deal? Or use something like switcher.ie to change straight away? Anyone have any experience with this? Is there a thread that has info on this? I tried to search but didn't see anything…
