PBP expel Joe Loughnane for assaulting woman

What type of candidates are People Before Profit putting forward? Do they have any vetting process at all? Today a young woman came forward with her story of abuse at the hands of Pakistani PBP candidate in Galway West, Joe Loughnane.

    0JPhzqn.jpg

He threatened her, spat on her, and the smashed her phone when the 5ft tall "man" couldn't intimidate her into giving him her password. PBP couldn't defend Joe any longer and today expelled him from the party. Bear in mind, that this incident happened a year ago but PBP are only now taking action despite receiving warnings from numerous people about Joe's dodgy character.

    hCo0hxg.jpg

Reminder: Joe has confessed to dealing drugs in his community, but that didn't warrant investigation according to PBP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mc2IrSHOQU

Reminder: Joe tried to bully college professors and shut down lecturers if they don't agree with him. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwJWNoiy_84

Reminder: Joe was arrested for attacking Gardai outside the 2011 Labour Party conference in Dublin.

Shame on PBP for doing too little, too late. The news about his latest assault is only coming to light now yet many people may have voted for Joe this morning without knowing what a horrible little man he is.

Joe Loughnane is a popular name in the tribal heartlands in Pakistan.

do you not know the difference between suspend & expel?

There does some to be quite the hard on for the bould Joe by "new members" on this site. This isn't the first thread about someone who is effectively in political terms an absolute nobody.

It happened a year ago but they suspended him this morning.

    Weird.

Here is quite a damning statement from Joe Loughnane's own brother. Yikes.

His actions certainly explain his rabid defense of importing men from countries where thats accepted.

Joe Loughnane was born and bred in Galway. He’s Irish, and to be specific, a Galwegian. Just for additional clarity, Leo Varadkar is a Dubliner.

He'll be doing well to break 200 votes. The online campaigns against him the only thing recognisable thing about him :pac:

Oh right, the underworld of ne'er do wells who think they are political activists.

Current Affairs seriously needs a minimum post count rule.

    this line was great:

'...seduced by the promise of popularity and pleasure-fulfillment'

    Way to go, brother!

The premise of what he is saying is right - people like Joe are absolute **** who will do anything to label someone 'phobic' or 'racist' and ruin their life.
The extreme and not so extreme TRA lobby is the same.

Do you think Varadkar is part of the Brahmin caste?

Given that he’s Catholic, that’s rather unlikely.

PBP couldnt see past the lack of pasty skin here and thought " YEP "

he,s our man in the west

no need to do some homework on the guy and for good measure he once berated an israeli

thats the trouble with the left , they see profiles rather than individuals

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,420 ✭✭✭splinter65

The brother seems connected to reality at least. Poor Joe is finished today. His whole life was centered on violently attacking people he perceives see him as inferior because of the colour of his skin, hidden behind a working class hero civil rights activist image.
PBPs “wokeness” means that they are afraid to act against the mentally ill thugs they attract like bees around a honey pot.

Good thing no other party’s candidates have ever been a mortification, eh?

There's a great lesson here somewhere about respecting honest opposing views, but then there's Gemma flappin about chasing cars and barking at trucks in fingal and her mates singing rebel songs outside castles and asking a very busy confused Muslim butcher for our national dish ..... sausages :)

Nobody said this was the first time a candidate had embarrassed a party. Where did you see anyone say that?

A year later. It took a year for them to come to a conclusion. He’s brown skinned, but he spat at a woman and smashed her phone...but he’s brown skinned... how many committee meeting did PBP need before they decided it was ok to sanction him?

    Jesus she is demented.
Hopefully she flops in this election and takes the hint along with her mate John Waters.

There are threads here about all kinds of politicians and their shenanigans. There’s an 8 month long one about M Bailey on her swing. There’s at least 3 about Gemma. So here’s one about a leftie. So what? Is he exempt because he’s Asian or something?

Why did she only tweet a year later?
How do you know it was reported to PBP?

I'd ask the mods to show no mercy with the ban hammer for anyone who tries to defend the woman-beater or deflect from the story with desperate mentions of Gemma O'Doherty (another example of hatred against woman in politics?) Always believe women. Solidarity with Roisin today. She is a brave woman for coming forward. It can't have been easy.

A day later. Not a year. He’s been suspended for an action that isn’t disputed, unlike a bunch of rumour and innuendo.

FFS believe women. The victim says that PBP members knew for over a year yet did nothing. They sheltered a woman beater. How can you be so horrible?

There have been many complaints about Joe going back nearly 10 years. But go right ahead and defend the misogynistic but ultra woke little toad. I’m not going to get in your way

Of course. Don’t look over here at Joe loughnane, keep looking over there at Gemma. While you have Gemma to distract everyone with, any aberrations of the left can be covered up and ignored.

PBP members aren’t necessarily in any position to do anything within the party - they may well have kept a confidence that Roisin did until now. She never went to the party with this until now. When she did, they acted promptly. Fair play to them.

Why are people involved in fringe politics always such horrible, angry, and deluded people? The far left and the far right are so alike. Angry young men who need to have an enemy. Good thing their hateful politics is ignored.

I don’t deny there were at all. But nothing sufficient to warrant suspension. Just as the whole cokegate stuff is well known, but might well be complete bollocks.

Plenty of equally abhorrent behaviour in mainstream political figures too. Don’t delude yourself.

Joe knew he was hiding this skeleton in his closet for over a year yet put on a fake smile and pretended he was an ally of women. The fact that he is only now admitting guilt and apologizing after being caught is worthless in my view. Not sorry for what he did, sorry he was caught.

Roisin said PBP members knew but did nothing and that's good enough for me. Believe women.

Nah. The fringes of politics are two cheeks of the same arse. Show me a Gemma O’D or PHP supporter and you’ll have an example of a loser with anger issues. It’s the fuel of fringe politics.

It's refreshing to see right-wingers believing a woman and not instinctively taking the side of the abuser.

PBP are no different to any other small party - right or left - in that they don't seem to have any 'quality control' when it comes to selecting candidates. The dogs on the street knew that Loughnane was (at best) a dubious character.

I’m not a member of PBP, but they acted promptly to confirmed abusive behaviour, in a context of ample fabricated rumours.
