I’ve over 100 posts now and am interested in becoming a Mod. Does anyone know the best course of action to take? Do I contact an admin or even a boards.ie employee?
    Many thanks

Just start doing it and see how that goes :pac:

You need to send in a SAE for the application pack. It must include two passport photos and 3 months of utility bills as proof of address.

    Send an email to hello@boards.ie

Don’t send your cv, just outline why you want to become a mod and what you have to offer.
You’ll also need to pick which forum you wish to moderate, how you can improve things, and name two posters you would ban on your first day.

Do boards.ie still do the parties with an open bar for mods ? A long time ago in a galaxy far far away I was a mod of the motorcycle form. I remember getting invited along to such party. It was great craic , although after my 3rd or 4th double whiskey I can't remember much of the night.

    Open bar?

Don't call them. They'll call you.

Meanwhile make sure you backseat mod as much as possible as they really like that.

We wouldn't mind a new cleaner, since you're keen to work for free

Your time would be better spent volunteering in local charities than volunteering your time for free for a commercial company.

    Bribes, OP. Massive bribes.

Did you ever hear of Mossad ?
They'll come looking for you , two years with them and then hand over your passport and you're in.

I just believe in the mission of boards, connecting Ireland and the diaspora. I also think it would be amazing to work with the famous mods like Beasty, Irish Steve, Steve, liamog, Nosnon and Axwell. Being part of a team this strong and insightful would be a dream

The only name that rings a bell is Beasty.

Paul Weller, now that's a famous Mod.

You need to be assertive and get onto as many people and hand out bans....

Straight to red card none of this yellow card stuff.

Try and post in as many threads as possible over the next 24 hours and take no breaks....

I visit the Reserve Garda thread sometimes and I wonder if boards.ie could do something similar. I’d love to at least hand out ‘training’ cards. They wouldn’t mean anything but would be a good buzz and help me learn

Ive got about 3000 posts and my retired account had 15,000.

If you have to ask, and you ask on After Hours, you're not ready to be a Mod.

It's best to try and forget. There was a reason I was trying to get black out drunk at the mods party.

I guess the consensus seems to be it is a don’t call us, we’ll call you kind of thing? I’m hoping one of the mods or admins spots my talent, commitment and focus. I’ll just have to keep posting away and hope I get the call

You have to be strong and Site-ban yourself, shows ruthless determination and that you don't play favourites.

    You'll need the following equipment:
    • Mohair suit (3-button, single-breasted) - be sure to check the current acceptable turn-up size
    • Tab collared shirt
    • Slim silk tie with matching pocket square
    • Desert boots
    • Lambretta scooter with parka. Must protect that suit from the weather...
