How does that work. Your export is greater than your generation? Can I get me one of those? :-)

I dump whatever I have left in my battery each night back to the grid. I guess over the month I didn't use everything that I imported one the course of the day which resulted in a small net gain.

491 kWh on my 6.1kWp system in Cork for March 2024.

Just did a comparison between the last few years and to my surprise up until March, I was ahead of 2022 and 2023, although this early on in the year a few good days makes a big difference. That saying Im above 2023 but behind 2022. But as everyone rememebers March 2022 was exceptional.

what do you think you have saved per year , a rough guess is grand. I will have my first bill this month (2 month per bill) since I am in my house with and without solar. Probably about €400 cheaper for the 2 months feb-april

Instead of cost, as unit prices vary, look at kWh used for the same period before and after, if you have that data

hard to say with the changing rates, introduction of CEG and their varying rates.. I was initially charging the EV with surplus but with decent CEG that's illogical so exporting all surplus now and charging EV on night rate... but the payback time has significantly shortened with CEG and government credits! I've estimated it'll have paid for itself by end 2025, but I'm no accountant! 😆

My installer told me I was going to save money, but it was up to me to maximise it.

Year 1, did nothing but learn. Saving ~€800

Year 2, used the battery and switched to a smart plan. Costs went mad. Saving ~€2000

Year 3, doubled the battery, costs came back a bit. Saving ~€1800

Savings are based on not having solar, and the best plan I could find for that Vs what I actually spent. The government handouts are excluded. They just mean I'm in credit. I've also started heating water using the immersion but do not include the reduction in kero as I have no way to measure that -- only theory.
