I had my car fail the NCT with worn wishbones/ wb bushes on the front suspension. Offside Front rearmost and nearside front rearmost. Also had the front axle fail with an imbalance. The cars an 08 ford focus style.

The axle imbalance is probably due to the two failed bushings. Ballpark price ,very low treble figures ,got to be at least 70-80 and could be ripped off and pay high side of 200-300.Id say 120-240 should cover it .Ford parts cheap as they come .With wishbone bushes (just rubber lumps like tiny tyres that help absorb shocks)you buy them cheap and replace them but labour is high .Or else pay big and buy the entire wishbone /radius arm (huge lump of metal with rubber parts already in it ) with lower labour costs

Actually radius arms/wishbones are really cheap https://www.micksgarage.com/g/wishbones/products/54783064418/borg-and-beck-wishbone?gclid=eaiaiqobchmirl-htcgf5wivxyjvch2augu4eaqyaiabeglpavd_bwe

Best to just change arms but tracking will need to be done (another 30 or so )

    This is whats involved (x2)

Two hours labour in a good garage with no hiccups like seized bolts

Anyone who says a focus would fail a front suspension test because of two worn wishbone bushes is talking through their hoop.

Cheers thanks for the reply. I was thinking I would be looking at about 300 so I wasn't too far off. I would definitely go with replacing the wishbones if the difference wasn't much.

It failed on the visual defects. I had the car in for a service a couple of months back and they noticed it and said it would fail on them but just didn't have to money at the time so said I'll wait for the NCT and get it fixed then.

Yes but what I’m saying is the front wishbone bushes won’t fix the suspension imbalance. You’ll most likely need a pair of shocks also.
