You really would think that someone would've told him - 'Don't worry Brendan, if we get sued, the disgusting peasants pick up the tab'

For a guy that gets paid the equivalent of an annual salary of €3.1m, you'd think he'd have worked that one out for himself

It was bizarre. She wasn’t even saying it out of nowhere, she was quoting from a feature in the paper!

I think I'll just let this hang there - BOC on the equivalent of €3.1 million per year

ya, ya, c'mere, listen - I'm totally worth it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

how are you calculating that? Genuinely curious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 2,137 ✭✭✭Gen.Zhukov

250k pa (published fig) for 4 hrs pw for c.40 weeks pa is approx 1,500 per hour (it's closer to 1,550 ph*)

    1,500 ph x 40 hrs = €60k pw - 60k x 52 weeks = €3,120,000

I think that would make him the highest paid presenter in RTE on a per hour rate. Of course Noel would take about €50k of that every year for 'services rendered'

    In reality, @ €1,550 per hour* x 40 hrs pw = €62k pw x 52 weeks = €3,224,000 pa

When I did Joseph Duffy’s fee calculations he was on just over €2,000 per hour. This was based on fees over a 2 year period divided by actual number of shows presented. So Duffy would be on more. Frightening.

I’m open to correction on this but I don’t think BO’C is represented by NKM.

You might well be right re Duffy - I found it difficult to gauge his profane hourly fees due to the extra TV stuff he does - RTE should be required to publish the hours worked

I can't prove definitively that NK is BOC's agent, but I'd put the house on it - The very fact that someone as annoying as Brendan gets that slot on those fees, can only mean Kelly. Brendan is also very fond of having lots of team NK people on the show - which is another giveaway imo

Yeah, but c'mere to me-he's not on €3m like. Those figures are crazy. He's not on a flat week or anything-that said, these hoors should be clocking in and out-they shouldn't be contracting in the first place!

He's not one of Noel Kelly's bitches either, but he might as well be.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 2,137 ✭✭✭Gen.Zhukov

ya,ya,ya, c'mere listen - I said he was on the equivalent of €3m if he were to work in a 9-5 job and I'm sticking with he is NK - we'll have to disagree on that one

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,760 ✭✭✭Pelvis Parsley

I think he's just "well got" tbh.

Listen.. C’mere to me …”well got”…. Understatement of the month.

The scariest part about this is Power is a practicing barrister. If she really believes what she said about Hutch and a jury trial it demonstrates a lack of understanding of the specifics of the evidence presented, and more seriously the differences between the various courts of the land.

Which of course she does. I can only assume she was playing to the middle to upper class gallery on this one and throwing that particular comment out for a soundbyte. I’ve no doubt Mr. Hutch is not exactly squeaky clean, but it would have been a grave miscarriage of justice were he convicted of murder based on the evidence presented in court. That O’Connor allowed this to slide without his usual disclaimer shows what the establishment think of the result.

Who was that lady on the radio earlier didn’t hear all the interview. It was very sad, her 2 children were murdered by her husband, happened 10 years ago

Brendan sh1t ting himself today when Alison O’Connor & co taking over and asking him directly has he been offered the LLS. His response was interesting, he says the interest is driven by betting outlets and that he will not contribute to that.

Great interview with Rosaleen Linehan today.

I was laughing and crying at the same time.

(mind you I was chopping onions 🙂)

    She's 86 and sharp as a tack.

She was on Gay Byrne's first LLS and his last.

Heard that and sounded like Ballsy was a bit peeved that he has in fact been passed over but doesn't want to admit it.

Given Byrne has fallen at the last fence, fact that Duffy is missing in action tomorrow could be quite telling.

Up his street as well and sure didn't he learn everything at the feet of the great man himself?

I thought the same although you could read this a couple of ways.

Frankly, that could have been rehearsed as a way of softening us up for the situation he outlined - BOC to Alison: 'You've been after this gig [his radio show] for a while'. I posted a list* of people I suspected of being team NK in another thread and Alison is on that list and that conversation kinda confirms it for me. She's been on way too many panels and was on CB live TV numerous times (always a dead giveaway)

'You've been after this gig [his radio show] for a while' - Simply put, Why would Brendan say that?

I think @NIMAN said BOC was well up there in the other RT/LLS thread, he could well be right

That list* is on pg 313 of the Licence fee thread in CA's if anyone's interested

Indeed…..Ballsy went into tetchy mode when it was mentioned.

The ‘Full Nasal’ as it’s called……C’mere to me…..😁

Didn't Ballsy have a TV chat show of his own at one time.... but it was canned. (if I recall, he was sh1t, but slightly less soo than Tubridy).

At this stage he's probably one of the front runners and would seem a safe pair of hands. Tommy Tiernan and Patrick Kielty might offer a whiff of controversy, soo RTE will be reticent to risk the farm on them. Sarah McInnerny or Katie Hannon in spite of being the preferred gender in RTE have zero personality...and the show would be finished.

He had a chat show, a round table thing. It was very good for its 1st series.

2nd series not so good, as BOC got very nervous about his guesrs saying anything controversial, so spent most of the show interrupting them and talking over them.

I think it got cancelled as Ray D'Arcy was promised a Saturday night tv slot when he made the move to rte from todayfm.
