Don’t think so. The general public does not have unfettered access.

I would have thought that a night club is a very public place. I've just seen the video and am shocked that Leo could have been so stupid not to have realised that almost every single person around him had a camera in their possession. Very poor judgement on Leo's part.

Very poor judgement for an individual in his position. On the public vs private space while I initially thought private I looked up the definition:

“any premises or other place to which at the material time members of the public have or are permitted to have access, whether as of right or by express or implied permission, or whether on payment or otherwise”

so it could be public or private depending on the type of club or door poilcy.

We have no journalism in Ireland.

It's really just copy and paste from social media. RTE filter out anything that's not politically correct or legally troublesome.

What were are left with is programmes about house makeovers, mrs browns boys and luvvies talking about being green and how their flight to florida was cancelled due to fog.

Yesterday I was a bit appalled by BOC questioning why aircraft need de-icing score take-off at all… “sure don’t they get ice when they’re up there”. His technical knowledge parallels that of Joe Duffy. I think when professional pilots require their planes to be de-iced, I would leave it to them if he doesn’t want to do a little bit of reading up.

Enjoyed the interview re China with Denis Staunton, informative and thoughtful.

Usually turn off after midday when BOC goes into mental health woes.

    More stuff like this needed.

    Back to celebs now :(

I'm refering to the fact he got it removed, not what the video covers. Do you tink you'd have any better than a snowballs chance in hell in getting a video removed from a social media platform?

As someone with some knowledge of this profession through family and friends what has happened a lot in recent years is there's been a lot of change in GP/Family Practice arena. You have a lot of older GPs selling their practice to other GPs or to groups, and a lot of consolidation (groups like Centric Health are buying up practices left, right, and centre). There's (like teaching) also been a huge shift in the demographics of those who work in the industry as it's almost impossible now to find a male GP under 45 - almost all "young" (<45) GPs are women, and these women mostly work part-time....it's a lifestyle choice for them.

TBH, I was a little shocked she said she works 4 full days (she made reference to mornings and afternoons). The "norm" for many/most female GPs under 45 these days is to do mornings only.

My Scandinavian airlines aircraft was deiced in January 2004 just before taking off from Copenhagen. I appreciated it

I will always remember when the airliner pubfed into the river Potomac after taking off.

Appalling sense of judgement, and not the first time he's done it either (displayed same); esp. when you consider this man is about to go into the highest political office in the country this week.

I don't care what he does behind closed doors, this however was not behind closed doors. The calls for privacy also ring a bit hollow when he uses social media to display his private life when he suits him. You can't have it both ways.

And had it been an attached straight man in his 40s snogging a 20 something woman I dare say the reaction would have been very different. Leo is more Teflon than Bertie at this stage, and he knows it.

Ballsy can only do one hour free range discussion now, sounds like a lad herding cats in that hour.

You can almost feel him exhaling in relief when it comes to 1200hrs and he can go back to one on one safe radio

Spot on Butthers, appalling doesn’t even come close……this will be a major player in the future.

    Total forhking idiot.

Not in Dublin it’s not. Unless I’m the exception because there’s 2 in my place and I know of another couple working out of a place in town. All well under 45.

    I suspect that you're right. I wouldn't even know how to start.😁

I didn't say each and every one Emmet. Of course there are exceptions. I know of some myself, but the point is they are rare, and becoming rarer.

    Edit: typo

Didn't the Finnish pm get huge (more than Leo) negative reaction after her shenanigans in some night club? Did she not have to supply a negative drug test afterward? So I think its driven more by the office that they hold rather than their gender or sexual orientation. As you say, appalling sense of judgement!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,028 ✭✭✭✭ButtersSuki

I'd like to see a journalist ask Leo had he consumed anything other than alcohol on that night or ask him would he be willing to undertake a drug test. ZERO chance of either happening of course.

Leo has well and truly spent the pink pound by now.

He'll have to come up with some other distraction.

Anything to distract from the actual problems his government have allowed to happen over the past 10 years.

Brendan is and always a great defender of the government. When it was stated that the 100 asylum seekers are in unsuitable accommodation since July and that government like everyone else knew that winter would come he quickly jumped in with "I'm sure they are doing their best" .

Pet would explain in finest detail the technicalities of the necessity to apply either ice prevention or ice clearing and would be at pains to explain it all 🤣 (bit like meself!)

He,s a good presenter ,he,s trying to be entertaining and interesting, he,s middle of the road, hes not looking to provoke an argument or criticize the guests , re leo vadakar, it go,s to show theres no longer any privacy in any public place, or any pub or a club, people will take photo,s or a short video if its anything that might get likes on facebook, instagram etc anyone even a minor c grade celebrity will be photographed constantly.I think as the main radio station supported by the license fee rte has to broadcast news bulletins at certain times .any place where the public go,s is not private ,everyone has a smartphone .if you are famous deal with it, thats modern life .

Comparisons with the Finnish PM are 100% apt and the contrast in our media's reaction could not be more stark.

Whatever this has surely slowed down any announcements that Modern Ireland's Leo & Matt are, at some point in the future, looking forward to "starting a family together". Oh how that parade would have been wonderful... LOL!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,181 ✭✭✭Jizique

In fairness, those Hardy bucks who media would have you believe crossed mountains and deserts like Hanibal crossing the alps really only jumped on a Ryanair and are soft as fcuk looking for the self life having left families behind until they get their "family reunification" papers

The coverage of the Finland story was appropriate because of the reactions of opposition and coalition MP's to the story.

Thankfully Irish politicians took a more balanced view in regard to LV's night out.

Your second paragraph is unrelated idle speculation.

Yes, I’m female and I always ask to see a female GP. I find it extremely annoying that I can never see the same one, there’s a carousel of maternity leave, various locums and part time working.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,154 ✭✭✭hamburgham

No. I’m wasting time on Boards.ie whereas Pat would be checking his beloved power grid app to see how much energy is currently being generated by wind etc. He’s awesome.

Why is it anyone else's business what he gets up to in night clubs, as long as he's not breaking the law?
