    Hi,
Just about to buy a 530e, any suggestions for a good installer for a wall charger in the Limerick area? I have PV panels(no storage), and a power and electric shower. I have applied for the grant for 600 euro

I'm waiting to hear back from a few places I have emailed for quotes including Electric Ireland and Darkin, but I undecided about what type of charger would be best for me.

    Thanks in advance

I dont have any installer recommendations for Limerick but since you have an electric shower you will need a priority switch or a charge point that can do load sensing.

Also having Solar it does point to a Zappi as it will integrate with the Solar and also remove the need for a priority switch so you could buy a cheaper charge point but by the time you fit the priority switch you are probably close enough to Zappi money anyway.

Availability of the Zappi might be an issue though. Try electricautos.ie to see if they have stock as it could be a long wait if you have to get it from the UK supplier.

Note, you dont need to get any large companies to fit this for you. Any RECI registered electrician will suffice.

Thanks, yep I noticed the need for the priority switch

Thanks for your advice on the wall charger, I think a zappi makes sense alright

Another option is the Garo unit.

It also has whole house load sensing but doesnt have it by default. You have to order the extra Modbus accessory. I dont know what the cost is but Garo aint cheap and it doesnt (AFAIK) have a Solar integration. Might be worth getting a price in any case just to have a comparison.

I cant remember any other units having whole house load sensing. Most either have no sensing at all or just have load balancing between multiple charge points which is no use to you really.

I hope you understood the point KCross was making. If you go for a Zappi charger, you do not need a separate priority switch. It has one built in.
