We're flying it, those 2 are marked off now, won't be long before they all will be. :)

At least there's a few things in there to break up the months.
You can also add in your own personal one's such as Birthdays.
I'm not feeling to over whelmed with it at the moment.

Madness to include the NFL and not the Melbourne Races, African Nations Cup, Americas Cup etc. as milestones to Christmas in Ireland. :p

NFL has a pretty big following here in Ireland these days.

Out of the above i'm only familiar with the African Nations Cup as it impacts the Liverpool squad each season :P

Im just kidding by the way I could have banged on about Wimbledon just as easy. I have a bug bear about plastic yanks as I have to converse with the high fiving, 5 shirt size to big wearing, americanism/hollering shouting, wanna be septics when I visit my cousin down the country. Big as in the mass of the viewers? I would say it's more a vocal minority.

You havent heard of the America's cup! It's worth a read up on, more so past races as its now gone a bit mental.

    We've a date for a general election!

Nestled in between Superbowl and St. Valentines. The first of the three will most interest me!!

Did the Young Scientist happen last week or did I dream that?

Feb is a busy month, 8 things will be done!

    List updated. :)

Do you think we should end the list on 21st December/Shortest Day, rather than 'School and work Christmas holidays begin?'

Different people finish at different times, and a few people (like me!) don't generally finish up until Christmas Eve.

I just think maybe 21st December is a less variable finale?

Yes I think the shortest day of the year is the best day to finish up the list on.

Woo, that means* we've already moved closer to Christmas! :)

But a whole month closer to the most wonderful time of the year.

Clocks going forward is a biggie though, love the extra daylight.

Interesting fact (to nerds like me) that shortest day isn't always the 21st. It was the 22nd last year. Is due to stars, waves, earth rotation and big complex science stuff!

    Oh, can't wait for that!

Still hasn't been bright yet this year when I'm leaving work. That will be a biggie for me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,521 ✭✭✭CheerLouth

Yes bring on the bright evenings - I hate the feeling of going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark. Living in the country, it really shortens your day as you can't go for a walk on a dark night like you can in the town.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,865 ✭✭✭TRS30

Hope the Christmas party was good CL. Funnily my wife was out with some friends on Saturday and one of them was at her Christmas party Friday night as well. Don't think you work in the same place though (hint it would be useful for your current prediciment if you did!)

Only been bright for me when leaving early on a Friday, every other day its still dark, but you can start seeing it getting brighter, wont be long before it is. Love the long summer evenings.

Not as much as mothers day will on sunday... hope they defer it until later in the year so all the grannies can get hugs and kisses off the grandkids.

I don’t think that will happen. I think when all this is over grannies will be getting plenty of hugs and kisses off the grandkids Mother’s Day or not.

When I did this never I my wildest dreams did I think we'd be removing them.
I honestly thought they'd be more chance of me winning the lottery.

Eurovision being cancelled really hit the nail on the head for me. And they’ve cancelled the live episodes of the Voice UK.

See Glastonbury has already been cancelled. Though I'd be amazed if any of the music festivals happen this year.

Had a quick scan through the list and see about 4/5 things that could potentially be cancelled and that's just up till September!

Yeah, Wimbledon, Tour de France, Leaving/Junior cert exams, All Ireland hurling & Football, all in reality in the firing line with a slim chance of actually going ahead... I just hope weather wise we get a decent summer otherwise theres a very real chance of people going crazy locked in their homes day after day after day for month on end.

Anyway, I promised my wife I'd try to stay away from Covid19 wormholes today so must try harder to post about something else ;)
