    Saturday 9.35pm

Bills @ Texans - Texans are 5/7 on and I think they will eek out the win at home.

    Saturday Night 1.15am

Titans @ Patriots - Pats 1/2 on at the bookies, I'd agree with that but an upset always possible, the Pats have been a fair way off their best for the last 8 games or so, including the baffling call on Sun not to try for a scoring play with 1m42secs and 3 time outs left at the end of the half on Sunday. If they are to win or make the SB, they will have to do it the hard way, likely playing the Lamarr Jackson led Ravens in Baltimore in the AFC Championship game.

    Sunday 6.05pm

Vikings @ Saints - Saints 3/11 on and I think they will do enough to see off the Vikings at home.

    Sunday 9.40pm

Seahawks @ Eagles - Seahawks 10/13 on at the bookies, I fancy this will be our only away win in Wildcard weekend, but it could easily go either way.

Roll on Knockout football, really looking forwards to the Post-season, the Pats shat the bed against the Dolphins which has blown things wide open, as they tumbled down from 2nd seeds in the AFC!

    165 - 91 coming in

    Bills @ Texans
    Titans @ Patriots
    Vikings @ Saints
    Seahawks @ Eagles

Bills Texans is tough to call so I'm siding with home advantage. In most worlds the recent Titans should beat the recent Patriots hands down, however there's just no way I'm picking against Brady at home in the playoffs. The other two look a bit more straight forward but you just never know in these one offs.

Thank God for sports this time of year, January NFL playoffs into February Six Nations flips these two months from post Christmas depression into two of my favourite months of the year.

Season is over, this doesn't continue in the playoffs as far as I'm aware.

And if you are doing it, please start a picks thread and keep this one for chat about the games please.

OK but the question was asked in the week 17 thread and people seemed to think it did continue. Also every other "Week XX" thread included both picks and chat, why does this have to be different?

There's a lot more interest in the playoffs and nobody wants to see new posts and clico into the thread to just find somebody posting about their picks.

This picks thing has got out of hand anyways. Used to be just a small few doing it. Far too many doing it these days, needs its own thread every week I think.

I personally don't see any issue with it. It's practically a given anyway in this forum. It's also interesting to see who most people are going for in some games. Plus, if it was in a different thread there would be far less people doing it.

I don't get why people don't just enter the Superbru competition that gets posted here at the start of the year. Far easier than posting lists with team names in bold, you just click who you want to win and margin of victory. It's all tracked for you. You get a couple of reminders a week to make your picks sent to you, there's an easy to use app if need be, there's a summary mail each week that shows how you performed etc.

You can even set up a new one that doesn't count margin of victory and is just W-L records.

The current way doesn't promote any discussion at all so I don't see why it's posted in thread. I don't think I've ever seen one person comment on another person's picks before. No one even keeps track of the overall scores. It's annoying to see that there's been a new post in the thread and clicking in to see it's just someone posting picks/results.

Before I started doing picks I found it useful to glance through the picks to see what the mood of the forum was about games. You nail your colours to the mast in the same thread for later discussions as well, rather than having to go to another thread.

I find it even better in the playoffs, as with the smaller number of games many posters add the reasons why they're making their picks (see Inquitus' post) and this can drive discussions.

In the end of the day it is a few posts before the first game kicks off and after the last game finishes - hardly a big deal.

What used to be happen in the playoffs and it was great fun imo was there was a public poll and people made their picks. A screenshot was taken at kickoff of the first game so those scoundrels making late picks in the 4th quarter were scuppered ;)

Happened in wildcard, divisional round and the Super Bowl

One year only one poster out of over thirty got every pick correct :) Fair play!

There are websites which do exactly the same but sure if paulie or a mod wanted to put up a public poll we can declare our picks and be seen as wise or fools :P

Buffalo have been good away from home and I'm not too enamoured with the Texans.

Patriots bluffed their way through a piss easy opening to the season and fell asunder when they came up against decent opposition. Foxboro, The Moon, or the depths of the Mariana Trench, I fancy Tannehill, Henry and AJ Brown to send Titans through.

The game I'm looking forward to most. Should be a ding-dong battle but ultimately I don't think Minnesota's ding will be bigger than New Orleans' dong.

Seattle have been good on the road. Eagles had a very generous end to the season which without, they probably wouldn't have won the worst division in football.

Would you catch yourself. Absolute hack of this post.

The first few posts of every week is picks and then it continues on. You'd swear you didn't cotton yet. It's not like you're inundated with updates. Jesus Christ man.

There's not enough traffic to handle multiple threads here. This works for most of us and you never pipe up until you want to moan about something. Be grand.

I'm with you on Buffalo and New Orleans but as poor as the Patriots have been the Titans don't have the receivers to trouble them.
I don't know what to make of the Eagles and Seahawks. Both have looked excellent at times and awful in other games. I'll predict the Eagles are leading at halftime though because the Seahawks always dig themselves a hole to get out of.

I would love to see the titans get it done however I just dont see it happening .Tennessee is a good not a great team 9-7 for the 4th straight year.Yes the Patriots look vulnerable but I cant see them losing to the titans,Belichick will take away Henry and take his chances with Tannehill.Last year everyone thought the chargers would go to Gillette and win, that game was done before halftime.I expect the Pat's to grind it out.

From what I can see, the Titans have a much improved receiving corps this year. AJ Brown is a legit #1 bordering Pro Bowl. Adam Humphries and Sharpe offer solid backup options.

Tough to see Titans win though; I fear Tannehill is due a poor game.

Seems a fairly strong consensus of Texans, Pats, Saints and Seahawks which with PP gives 4.5/1 which isn't great odds to be fair.

    Seattle Seahawks
Bills @ Texans - Fuller being likely out and Watt not being close to 100% tilts me a bit, but the main reason why I'm going Bills is their superior coaching. Also, believe they'll run Allen a lot more in the playoffs and they'll have a lot of success today.

Titans @ Patriots - Seems like a great match-up for the Patriots. When you add to that home advantage, the victory will be wider than many are expecting, with the offense appearing much better, which will see wild calls that 'the Patriots are back', that they are fighting like underdogs (despite being favourites here), and wild calls that playing so poorly down the stretch was some sort of amazing plan by Bill. Things will change next weekend.

Vikings @ Saints - Saints to get out to a lead which will completely nullify the Vikings offense, they won't be able to lean on the run and Saints won't need to respect play action.

Seahawks @ Eagles - Even taking into account the tight loss last week, the Seahawks have won a crazy number of close game this season (I think 10-2 in one score games). This and the greatness of Wilson has covered over serious cracks in the team and coaching. I think they won't be able to run and with home field advantage and Wentz playing well the Eagles will have just enough to win.

By the looks of things the only thing that can beat the Bills tonight will be the Bills themselves. Play a clean second half and that might be enough the way the D is playing.

That said, I did see the Texans almost turn it around after being down 30 to the Broncos a few weeks ago. Watson looked a different QB after the break. Think this Bill D is better though.

Not been watching but have been taking sneaky looks on game pass and the bills aren’t messing about. The stats that game pass use where the team who is leading the stat is blue is all the bills with the Texans only leading in one which is punts.

Who’s the former ref that ESPN have for this game? Thought it was fairly obvious the ball had crossed the goalline as Watson’s knee came down

Terrible ball security by Allen, Mercillus wasn't even looking for the strip. Total momentum swing now. That (correct) holding call on the great pass/reception on the previous Bills drive killed them.
