Altior will be the star attraction tomorrow at Kempton for the Desert Orchid Chase.

Charcon Pour Soi defeated Defi Du Seuil by 4 and a half lengths in the Punchestown Festival and I hope that he could be the horse that could dethrone Altior in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham. He is a very hard horse to train so don't expect to see him too often on the racetrack. He is entered for the 1:10 Grade 1 Chase at Leopardstown tomorrow over 2 miles.

In Chepstow, the Welsh National is centre stage. Elegant Escape will try to successfully defend his crown and will go off a warm order for this grueling 3 miles and 6 and a half furlongs test.

I will give my best bet for tomorrow once full declarations have been made.

Takarengo is my best bet for Christmas. Loves soft ground, has a good record in big field races on the level and has a shrewd trainer in Tom Mullins to boot. Looks sure to be the right type for this 22 runner 3 year-old hurdle race.

    12:05 Leopardstown Friday Takarengo

15/8 for Blue Sari seems big to me
Don't get me wrong, I like Abacadabras for the Supreme but Blue Sari got nearer to Envoi Allen than Abra did and Blue Sari also beat Abra when they met.
If closer in price, marginal preference would be for Abra, but at nearly 2/1 Blue Sari is appealing

Fury Road at 6/5 another one for me tomorrow

As for Chacun... Punchestown results mean little to me. People very stuck on him for beating a horse who had a very long tough campaign in Defi
A Plus Tard ew for me in that one

Elegant Escape very short in Chepstow but can't see him beat
    Yala Enki ew also

Disagree on elegant escape. Think he is big. 5/2 I'd guess as sp.

12.05 Leopardstown Very Excellent 5/1 form working out
2:35 limerick Lady Breffini 13/2 fav very short and disappointed last time worth taking on ew
2:05 Wtherby Hawk High 5/2 NAP class act in this lineup
3:55 Chepstow Oneupmanship 3/1 NB chinned on debut this looks easier

5/2 for a top weight conceding at least a stone all round over 3m5f on soft ground. We're not talking about Desert Orchid or Denman here.
He was beaten off this mark in a bad Hennessy/Ladbroke last time and has been completely outclassed in Grade 1s when he's contested them. He's just not that good!
Definitely not good enough to be winning a Grade 3 handicap off a mark of 160 imo. Can't have him at all. 5/2 is shocking. Plenty of other horses in here will have been targeting the race for a long time and will be delighted to see him run so they get to carry a nice weight below 11st. I'll be shocked if he wins.

All weights are relative. Potters corner is interesting but there are far fewer horses that I give any chance to in this year's race. Also I'd watch the Hennessey again, and the Cotswold chase last year and the Welsh national if you want to see why he has a favourites chance. Biggest bet of the Christmas for me at 9\2 and will go in again in the morning.

Worst racing over the Christmas period I've seen in quite a few years, lots of 'has been' horses running and being trumped up. Might back one tomorrow but see what price it is.

Got Trumped is one that I really fancy at a big price also MaxBet. Loves soft ground and has had wind surgery also. Get the earliest price on the Jessica Harrington trained 4 year old, as he could start 12/1 or 14/1 or shorter come off time.

    Hope it's not Altior mate

Nothing against Altior at all Rog. Just would love to see an Irish trained winner of the Champion Chase at Cheltenham, which has been mainly dominated by Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls in recent times.

Douvan (currently out of action due to injury) and Charcon Pour Soi in particular are our two main hopes for the March 11th 2020 blue ribboned event of two mile chasing. Personally I fear the worst with Douvan, the Clonmel win could be the last time we see him on a racecourse. I hope I'll be proved wrong!

As for Charcon Pour Soi, he is very much in the "could be anything" category. Really excited to see what he has to offer today. He is very short odds too, which reflects confidence in him within Closutton.

I expected 8/1 to be his peak price and so it has proved. I've no interest in online betting, but did open at that price in most of the bookmakers opening shows for that 12:05 Leopardstown race, just after 5:15 pm yesterday evening.

Now a general 7/2 shot. Could easily start as favorite now.

Did a tissue on a few in it as best I could and I had him around 8/1 so wanted 10s or more for a bet . Doesn’t look that strong a maiden does it

Hopefully it’s a good day for the trainer later on too

I like the look of Poker Party - 2.55 Leopardstown.

A lot of firms are paying 5 or 6 places on this one. P.P. are paying 7 places online.

    10/1 generally available . 11/1 with some.
