Wouldn’t blame you not wanting to pay to watch a Liverpool match.

We should have an Irish provider for all the Saturday 3pm games like the way every single country in the world has besides us and UK.

I don’t think that you can watch it on Amazon Prime Ireland - just in the UK

Good shout, but we can't account for Dougal in the United superthread. If he's a United fan, he's a clever one who stays away from the superthread.

Have to say it’s refreshing to see an Irish person who still openly “supports” Man United. I’ve had trouble finding any that happened jumped ship and started following Shamrock Rover or Bohs.

Others have just stopped following soccer altogether, citing the “commercialism” of the English premier league as their reason.

Obviously, that’s nonsense. Seems to just be a real sense of the kid who’d say “it’s my ball and I’m going home” when things didn’t go their way.

    Very fickle and incredibly disingenuous.

Nonsense. Your not looking hard enough as theres loads of us around, we just realise were going through a extended bad period so we don't have a lot to say especially with how well the Pool are doing.

While shopping for my Liverpool supporting son over the last few weeks found it very difficult to get Liverpool merchandise in the big sports retailers.

Plenty of Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea stuff on the shelves but the Liverpool stuff was all sold out.

    Interesting how things have changed.

But, hardly 5 years ago you didn’t even have to look. There were jerseys passing you in the street every day. Lads in work loudly talking about whatever “game” was coming up.

Now, there’s none of that. The Liverpool “fans” are looking around for United supporters to lord it all over and have a bit of “banter” with but there’s none of it.

Meanwhile, League of Ireland attendances are sky rocketing and all the ex-United fans will talk about is the “purity” of live football and how much fun it is to go to matches.

Personally, I think it’s great for the League of Ireland but I do worry that if in, say, 8 to 10 years from now when United start winning again, or win the Carabou Cup, then the “tide” will turn, the jerseys will be stretched back over the belly and the pubs will fill up again for United matches.

That's more to do with New Balance not being able to keep up with the demand for the clothing range, will all change next year when Nike take over doing the jerseys, you will get it everywhere then...

Just get on to Amazon CC and ask for your prime region to be set to the UK.
Way bigger range of programmes available, aswell as just the footie.
    Takes all of 5 minutes.

Some Man U supporting acquaintances of mine are very big into the rugby or GAA now. The football just isn’t doing it for them, talk about overpaid crybabies who roll around the pitch at the slightest touch. Will talk about it being different when the likes of Keane was about.

At least have the balls to follow your team when they are doing ****. The ones who are still openly wearing jerseys, following the club when it’s not competing, ye should be proud of yourselves, and remember when the lads who ****ed off to support Leinster or Munster or Dublin GAA, they weren’t there when the chips were down.

People are stretching here. There's still a huge number of United fans around and there was always huge amounts of Liverpool supporters to be found even when things weren't going too good.

It always becomes a pissing contest between the two of ye.

Yes the hundreds of thousands of people who support Manchester Utd in this country have all given up on them and started supported Shamrock Rovers or Bohemians. Thats why starting next season both Bohs will will be playing in Croke Park and Shamrock Rovers in the AVIVA due to the massive demand to see those teams from ex Man Utd fans.

I was referring more to the other paraphernalia around the teams rather than replica gear.

Things like mugs, stationary, calendars, clocks, name plates for doors etc.

Loads of Man Utd on the shelves, but the Liverpool stuff sells fast.

I've been quite surprised by the amount of people suddenly ditching Man United, tbh. I used to get loads of banter/teasing from the legions of Man U supporters that surround me here (I'm a Scouser). But it's all gone silent now. I thought it might be because of the success we had in Europe. But actually I think they're all just abandoning the team. Which is sad, really. Because when Man U begin a new run of success (which they will), the fair weather supporters will miss out on how sweet it tastes after a protracted down period.

There isn't many ditching Manu, there just not enjoying football at the moment. Although in fairness it's a good match against Newcastle, we are winning 3-1 at the moment.

Both Rovers and Bohs have had to turn away “punters” this year. Obviously, not all the ex-United fans have taken to league of Ireland, most have simply stopped watching soccer.

Attendances have increased dramatically over the last few years, in particular. Strange coincidence alright, coupled with some clever marketing by the LoI teams, of course.

Isn’t that the definition of a “fair weather” fan?

I mean, I follow a team that went from the top of the first division to playing in the championship, I’ve stuck by them.

I know a few Liverpool fans who’ve had to endure years in the wilderness and years of abuse at the hands of United fans. Now that the shoe is on the other foot the United fans are suddenly absent from any of the reciprocal “banter”.

All very fickle and incredibly disingenuous. I’d go so far as to say that those ex-United fans should be ashamed of themselves.

Far too much football on the television today. Don't know how people can sit there and watch ten hours for it. Haven't paid much attention to PL of late. Far too predictable. League is finished baring an injury crisis for Liverpool.
I know a few Liverpool fans who’ve had to endure years in the wilderness and years of abuse at the hands of United fans.

What years were they? Take a look at the likes of Bolton Wanderers and you'll see what footballing wilderness is like.
