What is your safe place

I used to have a lad I worked with who would run off in the van whenever he was in over his head and go back to the first job he did for us. He felt safe there. I could have a hotel looking like a fountain but this fella would call you as calm as you like from the other side of Dublin like nothing happened.

I used to think it was only him but then I realised that when everything has really gone to **** for me I like to run a certain route, a 5 k circle around the Beaumont house while listening to one of two happy Monday albums.
Where do you go when you feel like you are under pressure?

I climb, ww Kayak or surf depending on forecasts or what friends are doing. Pushing myself in Outdoor adventure sports is my safe space and help clear my mind.

I'm too lazy to run, so I get into the car and drive. I could literally end up anywhere.

Depends really sometimes the pub ha, bathroom

I love live music and often treat myself to gig tickets and travelling to and from them. Can be nerve racking but is an escape from reality

In the wardrobe covered with a blanket singing nearer my God to thee.

My head is my safe place. Sitting down somewhere quiet to ponder issues and resolve them.

Usually somewhere associated with water; rivers, lakes, the sea but especially the ocean. On an empty beach on the West Coast, looking out over the Atlantic and watching the massive waves break temporarily purges my mind of all the everyday stresses and strains of life.

Yea, I'm here with real men and the women who respect them for not being little bitches looking for places to feel safe instead of making places they can feel safe

Ah, so you recognize the benefit of a safe place. Maybe you are not as far behind as I thought..

Either the gym, at a club match (on my own), or the armchair in front of the tv with Sky remote in hand (the apartment needs to be empty though)

    I go mountain biking.

I found out pretty early on that when mountain biking, if your mind is on anything else but the bike and the trail, you tend to be off the bike pretty darn quick.

Either I run or I get in a pool. Either way, my mind clears and I just keep going until I can't anymore. If I can't do that, I meditate for 20 minutes although exhausting my body has a more enduring soothing effect on my mind.

I think people always had special places, though instead of calling them safe places they just said it was where they went to get away from it all.

id be more of a road man myself but got a mountain bike a few weeks back . was out yesterday for a while . At certain times when the sun was shining though the light fog and trees or lighting up the fire tracks it was stunning , something you don't get on a road bike .The one thing both have in common is they are great for clearing the head

Yup! Much prefer mountain biking to road biking though, but whatever gets you out and happy. Embrace the trails.

When I visit my Mum, the 2 dogs sleep on my bed at my feet after a cuddle.

    Great times.

Who do you cuddle in your mums house before the dogs sleep and do you call her mum because of an English upbringing or what’s going on there. Fascinated I am.

When I was going through a tough time a few years ago, I used to walk around a lake close to where I lived. I never understood that sort of thing till then.
